Job Title:                   ASC Business Office Manager                                                          

Reports to:                 ASC Assistant Director

Job Summary:  The Business Office Manager is responsible for the routine business office functions of the facility, including but not limited to, scheduling, insurance verification, reception, coding, billing, medical records, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, cash management, and human resource management.

*Minimum 1 year experience required*

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:     

  • Supervise and direct all business office staff and functions.
  • Assign business office duties based on facility needs and abilities of the staff
  • Supervise and direct patient reception and registration
  • Supervise over the counter collections, and daily deposits
  • Supervise and direct surgery scheduling
  • Supervise and direct insurance verification
  • Supervise and direct transcription receipt and tracking
  • Supervise and direct medical record creation, tracking and completion
  • Supervise and direct coding and billing
  • Supervise and direct collection duties for accounts receivable
  • Supervise and direct accounts payable
  • Perform in any office position as needed due to staffing shortages
  • Prepare monthly financial package and work cooperatively with staff accountant
  • Prepare regular and special financial and statistical reports as required
  • Maintain and be familiar with all insurance contracts
  • Maintain facility fee schedule
  • Maintain facility billing structure, claim, and statement formats and messages
  • Respect patient rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
  • Provides a safe environment for patients and personnel
  • Participates in the orientation of staff
  • Maintains business office staffing schedule
  • Completes written evaluations of business office staff
  • Comply with facility policies and procedures
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, and inservice programs.
  • Participate in Best Practices and Quality Improvement Programs.
  • Complies with the Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct, HIPAA regulations
  • Comply with OSHA standards
  • Assist in preparation for and compliance with regulatory agency inspections
  • Maintains attendance according to guidelines and policy established by facility.
  • Requests scheduled time off according to guidelines and policy established by facility
  • Protect company assets and equipment daily
  • Recognize legal and policy limits of individual practice
  • Assumes other duties as assigned

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Position Reports to Administrator
  • Supervises business office staff
  • Interaction with patients, families, physicians, referral sources, visitors, volunteers, co-workers, supervisors, vendors, etc. must be in a manner that is friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, cooperative, and professional.  This behavior should promote an atmosphere of teamwork, which is congruent with Facility standards and guidelines to promote positive relations.

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Graduate.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum two to five years related experience, ASC experience preferred.
  • Experience with all aspects of Revenue Cycle
  • Good visual acuity, accurate color vision.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. 
  • Ability to reach, grasp, and use fine finger movement.
  • Computer literacy

 Occupational Exposure:

  • Low-risk exposure to blood borne pathogens and chemical hazards.
