This posting is for a PRN Preop PACU PAT Nurse (RN) for our Ambulatory Surgery Center in Zephyrhills. This position provides nursing care to patients in the post-procedure period. Candidates must have a current Florida Registered Nurse license and ACLS. Prior OR Pre-Op & PACU experience preferred. Previous ASC experience a plus. Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role desired. Endo experience preferred. ACLS/BLS, Great IV skills

Keys to Success in this Role:
- Processes pre-procedure patients efficiently
- Initiates documented procedure verification process
- Identifies patient with 2 identifiers: verbally and compares armband and medical record
- Verifies consent
- Obtains thorough medical history and assesses patient
- Notifies physician / anesthesia of any medical conditions with potential for adverse outcome
- Obtains comprehensive medication list
- Obtains pregnancy waiver signature or performs urine pregnancy test when indicated
- Initiates intravenous line
- Provides patient education
- Provides post-anesthesia care
- Ensures appropriate monitoring
- Performs timely assessments and interventions
- Communicates with physician / anesthesia pertinent issues / changes in patient condition
- Discharges when criteria met and according to physician order
- Provides documented discharge education
- Ensures Recovery Room staffing standards are maintained
- Documents in the medical record
- Notes and follows through with physician orders
- Manages medication administration according to physician order
- Conducts patient pre-procedure phone calls
- Performs diagnostic tests upon physician order
- 12 lead EKG’s
- Phlebotomy/blood draws
- Schedules additional tests as ordered
- Follows universal precautions
- Completes occurrence reports when indicated within shift of occurrence
- Retrieves and reviews documents from PENTAX dictation system, Intergy and Intergy iEHR, as necessary
- Adheres to all FMC and unit policies and procedures
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and CQI teams
- Maintains unit training requirements
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Normal physical ability; able to sit and stand for long periods
- Normal concentration and normal complexity of decision making
- High level verbal and written communication skills
- Above average ability to manage multiple asks simultaneously
Occupational Exposure:
- High risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Current Florida RN licensure REQUIRED
- Current BLS and ACLS
- Strong customer service orientation
- Basic computer proficiency
- Experience in an ASC is preferred but not required
