Student Experience Associate

The Student Success Specialist will be responsible for the student and course operations. You’ll be responsible for driving a positive experience for all incoming part-time and immersive students, and streamlining all student on-boarding processes. 

Responsibilities: 

The Student Success Specialist will have a key role in running multiple processes for each course, including: 

  • Managing the Student Experience: The Student Success Specialist is responsible for making sure the students have a great experience in the program. Through student on-boarding, program execution, regular student check-ins, and working closely with the instructional team, students should feel that General Assembly is invested in their success and feel welcomed into the GA community. 
  • Managing On-boarding and Off-boarding: The Student Experience Associate will own and iterate upon current student on-boarding (welcome email, pre-work, course trackers, Slack, Github, orientation leading / scheduling, etc.) They will help facilitate student orientation, including scheduling and sending event reminders. 
  • Student Performance Management: The Student Experience Associate will do regular check-ins to ensure that students are keeping up with the pace of the program, and address any issues that arise, along with the instructional team. 
  • Data Management and Documentation: Collect student data pre-course and meticulously track data throughout course till graduation. Ensure that documentation is kept according to regulatory standards. 
  • Program Execution and Budget Management: The Student Experience Associate is responsible for parts of the program execution and isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty. They will keep all course and event scheduling systems up to date and ensure that the right teams have access to systems. They will be responsible for inventory management and ordering. They will send bi-monthly facilities and budget reports to direct manager, and will compile monthly course expense reports. They will set up and implement a collections strategy and ensure that all payments are made on time. 
  • Space Management: Oversee daily operations of the physical space. First point of contact for all facilities-related maintenance, repairs, IT and A/V
  • Cultivating a Community of Students and Alumni: One thing that makes General Assembly unique is our community of practitioners and individuals pursuing work they love. The Student Experience Associate will be responsible for cultivating a community of students and alumni who continue to return to GA outside of class, and contribute to growing GA’s presence in the community. 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • 2 - 3 years work experience, preferably in a customer facing / student facing, fast-paced role
  • Previous experience with program / education management, or experience working with students is ideal
  • Data-driven. Strong grasp of spreadsheets and data analysis
  • Efficient and organised - you love finding out ways to make a process more efficient
  • Some prior experience in startups or tech companies is a plus
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • Great with people 
  • High emotional intelligence
  • Incredibly organized

You generally are optimistic about outcomes and enjoy making friends with new people. You can be reflective when something hasn’t gone as planned and adapt quickly to get back on course.
