As the Senior Manager of Individual and Institutional Giving, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our organization's mission by strategically cultivating and stewarding relationships with individual donors and foundation partners. This position requires an experienced fundraiser and relationship manager who has excellent storytelling abilities, is proven in the area of digital communications, and is energized to further Girls Who Code’s individual giving and foundation programs. The successful candidate will be able to work as an individual contributor, and is a strategic thinker, adept at leveraging data trends to identify opportunities, and developing and executing strategies to drive revenue growth.

This role is NYC based and requires 2 days in-office per week.

Key Responsibilities:
Individual Giving:
- Develop and implement strategies to identify, cultivate, and solicit individual donors, primarily through digital giving and with targeted relationship building goals.
- Lead the creation of compelling digital campaigns targeted at improving donor retention, growing recurring gifts, and engaging new donors.
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to create visual assets for email and social media campaigns in support of fundraising efforts.
- Identify cohorts of donors to engage in thoughtful stewardship efforts.
- Create and manage personalized stewardship plans for leadership to pursue key prospects.

Foundation Support:
- Manage the consultant team who leads strategy setting, research, identification, and cultivation of foundation prospects aligned with the organization's mission and programs.
- Assist the consultants as they collaborate with internal stakeholders in developing grant proposals, reports, and other documentation to secure foundation funding.
- With support from the consultants, establish yourself as the main point of contact for and build strong relationships with program officers; assist in GWC leadership connecting with key senior leads at foundations.

Revenue Generation:
- With the Chief Development Officer, determine an annual fundraising goal of approximately $6M (between both revenue sources) and develop comprehensive strategies to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
- Explore and implement innovative fundraising techniques to diversify and expand donor pools and new funding and maximize support from existing donors.
- Regularly monitor revenue status, use data to run comparisons, estimate projections and set milestones to ensure fundraising stays on track.

Collaboration and Leadership:
- Work closely with the executive team, program team, research, marketing and other stakeholders to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities.
- Provide leadership over these two revenue sources and work in close collaboration with the Chief Development Officer.

Data and Database Management:
-Leverage Development Operations to create data analytics to help drive ideas and decisions.
- Develop and maintain accurate Salesforce records of donor interactions, grants, and fundraising activities for reporting purposes.

Qualifications:

  • 6 years of successful fundraising experience, with extensive digital donor campaign work
  • and individual giving or membership programs
  • Proven success in donor moves management, increasing giving levels or frequency 
  • Creative thinker with a track record of translating strategic thinking into action plans and output
  • Ability and desire to work as an individual contributor
  • Experienced relationship builder, interested in stewarding individual donors and foundation program officers to build meaningful and lasting connections
  • Excellent storytelling, written, and interpersonal communications skills 
  • Experience working directly with senior leadership teams and other key stakeholders
  • Knowledge of individual and/or fundraising trends and best practices
