We're looking for someone to join as our HR Chief of Staff, overseeing and managing the office of the CHRO. This role reports to our Chief HR Officer and will serve as a thought partner and trusted advisor to the CHRO to lead the development, communication, and execution of a cohesive HR strategic plan in alignment with GitHub’s mission, vision, and priorities. The successful candidate will work with HR and Company leadership on business and organizational issues, and can impact, influence, and execute in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must, as is a commitment to our core values of inclusion, collaboration, transparency, quality, positive impact, and getting things done.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic planning and activation of GitHub people priorities; building scalable processes and rhythm enabling business impact.
  • Monitor progress and champion prioritization and data driven results.
  • HR team effectiveness and engagement; empower and connect the GitHub HR community in the most optimal way. Enable a culture of community, learning and execution excellence.
  • Maximize partnerships with key stakeholders and partners; have an owner mindset across HR and the G&A LT on all topics for increased business and HR impact.
  • HR workforce and financial management; manage annual planning including monitoring budget and HC management.
  • Close cross-departmental engagement with HR, Finance, Internal Communications, Business Systems, IT teams and Company Leadership.
  • Lead and/or contribute to special projects and assignments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in Human Resources, Change Management, Business Transformation, Finance, Planning, and Operations.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly matrixed, cross-functional, and collaborative environment while effectively managing a variety of internal stakeholders across a diversity of disciplines. 
  • Proven track record of navigating through ambiguity, and a demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and demands.
  • A strong problem-solving track record – you’re able to think critically through unique problems with no set playbook and quickly implement a path to a solution, and you can toggle effortlessly between big picture strategy and in-the-weeds tactical problem-solving
  • Experienced in strategic planning, execution, building relationships and working with executives. 
  • Manages confidentiality without exception; demonstrates outstanding judgment. 
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in human resources, business, organization development, psychology or related field
  • Ability to proactively identify gaps in the business, and propose/drive thoughtful and inclusive solutions
  • Strong collaboration experience and ability to find win/win solutions 
  • Ability to maintain good judgement in fast-paced, high-stress environments 
  • Experience scaling programs and processes to at a startup
  • Familiarity with GitHub
