The Team
We represent the Hitachi Vantara Ecosystem and Software Engineering Team that builds next-generation automation and orchestration platform to simplify IT management across edge, core, and cloud environments. AI-driven infrastructure management and automation tool that enables agile operations, supports converged and hyper-converged systems, and accelerates private and hybrid cloud deployments.
Our team works with enterprise clients across industries to understand their challenges and deliver intelligent, scalable, and profitable digital infrastructure solutions using Hitachi products and services. The role
As a Senior Backend Engineer on the API and Orchestration Services team, you will design, build, and maintain backend APIs and services that power the intelligence layer of Hitachi IQ. This includes features such as multi-tenancy, RBAC, system orchestration, and lifecycle management for storage, compute, and networking infrastructure across hybrid environments.
You will be instrumental in delivering scalable services with Java, Python, and cloud-native technologies, and in managing infrastructure that spans both AWS and traditional datacenters.
What you’ll bring
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs using Java and Python.
- Build orchestration services that manage compute, storage (SAN/NAS), FC, and Ethernet infrastructure.
- Support and extend platform capabilities for multi-tenancy, RBAC, lifecycle automation, and Day 0-N operations.
- Contribute to release cycles, POCs, prototypes, and customer issue resolutions.
- Lead efforts to resolve performance bottlenecks and infrastructure-related integration issues.
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration between hardware and software components.
- Own and maintain components through all phases of development, including testing and sustaining.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and continuously improve productivity, maintainability, and performance.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent field.
- 5–10 years of hands-on software development experience in enterprise products or infrastructure platforms.
- 5+ years of experience building backend services for web-scale products.
- Proficient in Java (Spring Boot) and strong experience with Python.
- Experience building infrastructure-aware applications for both AWS cloud and on-premises datacenters.
- Deep understanding of multithreading, parallel programming, and Java Streams.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues and implement reliable, scalable fixes.
- Familiarity with Linux-based development environments.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices deployment patterns.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD, REST APIs, and API security practices.
- Clear understanding of design principles and object-oriented programming.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of hardware platforms such as servers, switches, FC SAN, or enterprise storage arrays.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible).
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Understanding of enterprise compliance frameworks and operational monitoring.
