Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan for the procurement and issue POs for raw material and components in support of the production plan using MRP output
  • Effectively communicate company requirements to suppliers
  • Review and monitor purchase order acknowledgments, open purchase orders and maintain accurate delivery dates within SAP
  • Responsible for the supply continuity of high-quality material to the manufacturing operation providing tactical order management support for the Sourcing department through supplier prioritization or expedites
  • Identify and communicate current and future shortages that will affect the production floor. Escalate when necessary
  • Work closely with the strategic buyers to mitigate overall supply chain risk.
  • Identify and execute opportunities for cost improvement, supplier quality and overall supplier performance
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels consistent with company inventory annual goals
  • Process and return non-conforming or obsolete material
  • Provide weekly reports to management or suppliers as necessary
  • Responsible for resolving receiving and invoicing discrepancies with the supplier in a timely manner
  • Monitor and review component lead times, safety stock levels, supplier Kan Ban quantities, making recommendations and changes as needed
  • Process engineering change requests and communicate when the change will take place along with the cost and material impact including excess and obsolete items
  • Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Supply Chain or a related field, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in buying for a manufacturing organization in an MRP environment
  • Knowledge of typical Purchasing practices and procedures
  • Knowledge in cost analytics, PPAP/Component Capability and Design for Manufacturability techniques is preferred
  • Experience in SAP, Microsoft Office, and others as assigned
  • High degree of initiative and attention to detail in a diverse and highly multi-task environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills to assist working across teams
  • Excellent follow up and strong negotiating skills when working with vendors
  • Ability to work in fast paced, short lead time environment
