The Role:

The Global Finance team is responsible for performing accounting functions for our Publishing business unit. Functions are inclusive of journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis to support the financial close as well as participating in the annual audit preparation. Reporting into the Senior Manager of Accounting, you will also support the broader finance team with other ad-hoc tasks and projects as required.

The role plays a key role in maintaining our financial accuracy and compliance.

What You’ll Do:

  • Completing month end operations for the Publishing business unit within agreed deadlines and including variance analysis of respectively owned areas
  • Responsible for monthly Publishing royalty balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ownership of our Synch month-end close accounting
  • Provide Support for the quarterly Client Pre-Statement Check process
  • Collaborating with the wider Finance and non-finance (Publishing operations) teams to achieve team’s objectives. Being a point of contact for the Operations team
  • Assisting and providing support with annual audit requirements and assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts for year end
  • You will also provide support in ad hoc tasks and projects as required

  • Relevant experience in finance or accounting role is required
  • You have excellent organisational and time management skills
  • You are a strong team player and communicator
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities

Additional Skills That Could Add Value:

  • Bonus points for demonstrating advanced Excel skills and aptitude for working with large volumes of numerical data
  • Most importantly, is that you can adapt to a fast-paced department as well as have an interest in obtaining an ACA/ACCA or CIMA qualification (Kobalt will support you through the qualification and cover any cost of study materials, course fees and paid study leave)
  • Previous experience and knowledge of the Music Royalties process particularly from a publishing perspective
  • Experience working with a visualisation tool like Tableau or PowerBI
  • SQL knowledge or interest

What Success Looks Like:

  • In 1 month, you will understand the Finance department overview and be clear on where your role fits and your respective responsibilities
  • In 3 months, you’ll be confident in our finance systems and close process
  • In 6 months, you will be able to complete your respective balance sheet reconciliations with minimal support
  • In 12 months, you will fully own your process areas, including independent collaboration with other teams to investigate and resolve any variances
