We are looking for a Control Analyst - Compliance System with a background in statistics and controls testing. The ideal candidate should have some familiarity with the systems used to comply with regulatory requirements under BSA/AML or AMLD 4+. In this role, you will be responsible for testing and tuning list screening, transaction monitoring, blockchain analytics and market surveillance controls. You will work closely with stakeholders in Compliance, Product and Engineering - as well as with vendors - to help Kraken comply with regulatory requirements to monitor, mitigate and report on possible cases of financial crime and market abuse.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an inventory of Compliance monitoring activities, including automated monitoring and other activities
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring of vendor and internally developed systems by evaluating both changes to data inputs and systems’ efficiency at processing those inputs.
  • These systems include list screening, AML transaction monitoring, blockchain analytics and market surveillance systems
  • Where ongoing monitoring uncovers changes to data inputs or declining efficiency
  • Develop test plans to help identify actionable systems improvements
  • Execute testing and tuning plans, including benchmarking, above- and below-the-line testing, and sensitivity analysis, where appropriate Document key test findings
  • Communicate those findings to stakeholders in Compliance, and track their remediationConduct timely ad-hoc and scheduled data analysis to support the Compliance team.
  • Requirements:

  • Awareness and understanding of AML/CFT regulationsFamiliarity with financial crime and market abuse typologiesAbility to thrive in an environment of ‘freedom with responsibility’.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across functions.Descriptive and inferential statistics.SQL, python, basic command line scripting. 
  • Experience with Gitlab or similar version control softwareExperience with Jira and Confluence.
  • As Kraken extends operations into new products and jurisdictions, this role will contribute directly to ensuring that Kraken meets regulatory requirements for automated controls to detect, mitigate and flag potentially suspicious transactions.
