About the Role
This position is within the Compliance Department and is responsible for producing internal records to satisfy formal subpoena requests served to Kraken by government agencies.
This role helps Kraken stay compliant with law enforcement and regulatory requests globally. This is a fully remote position for candidates within the United States.
Responsibilities
Review subpoenas and other legal document requests and thoroughly evaluate and assess the documentation to verify legitimacy.Determine the scope of documents requested of the company; coordinate and negotiate with serving attorneys or agencies to clarify documentation scope and required due dateThoroughly research all available internal systems to identify and obtain all relevant documents requested in subpoenas while adhering to all relevant global laws and regulations such as the right to Financial Privacy and General Data Protection RegulationMaintain meticulous records and manage the subpoena tracking system responsible for maintaining clear and accurate documentation of all actions and communication with agencies who furnished the subpoenasConduct following-up communication as needed to keep the serving agencies and internal departments informed of progressParticipate in departmental projects related to subpoenas and miscellaneous paper processing and complete other related assignments such as maintaining procedures and completing management information reporting as assignedUnderstand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls. Identify risk and escalate accordinglyWork with Compliance management, Legal, Corporate Security and other Kraken personnel to respond to questions and resolve issues related to subpoenas and other requests for recordsEscalate related complex issues to management for action, while maintaining confidentiality of the issueCollaborate with the team to drive improvements to internal policies and processes that relate to legal document requestsRequirements
2+ years preferred experience at a crypto exchange, financial services company, or paralegal workDetail-oriented, highly organized, and have the ability to communicate with tact and professionalismAbility to deal with tight deadlines and prioritize multiple (often changing) tasksAbility to take ownership of work product and consistently deliver resultsAbility to work in a rapidly changing regulatory environmentWilling and able to maturely work with sensitive issues and demonstrated ability to handle confidential informationProven ability utilizing multiple systems concurrently to gather and analyze dataUnderstanding of the US and/or European court systemsAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel including the ability to create a pivot, run a macro, and use shortcuts and Control keys; proficiency with Word and OutlookProficiency with macOS and G-Suites including the skills necessary to work within Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Sheets.Location Tagging: #US
