About the Role

The Strategic Operations Manager leads Kraken Bank’s Strategic Operations team, and is accountable for the analysts that report to them. The manager acts as a liaison between all lines of business at Kraken Bank and as an interface to Payward Inc., the parent company. The manager will focus on coordinating analysts to define business requirements for new products and improving bank system efficiencies. This position provides technical / non-technical support for users of bank systems and applications, and requires a generalist skill set with cross-domain proficiency.  This position requires radical ownership of new business initiatives from inception through delivery, comfort in new environments, and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Hours are MST. While we have a preference for candidates who are local to Wyoming, we are open to considering a fully remote position for the right person. Relocation assistance is available to those who are open to relocating to Wyoming.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for vendor management, contract negotiation, and integration for critical third party applications.
  • Accountable for delivering on key metrics, including clearing internal hurdle rates on strategic initiatives, new product launches, and process transformation projects
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and potential impact on the support business.
  • Owns the relationship between the lines of business at Kraken Bank and the shared services provided by parent company, Payward Inc.
  • Responsible for defining new business initiatives that incorporate the requirements from all Bank stakeholders, inline with the Bank’s formal PDLC process, and then providing recommendations on the most viable path forward, shepherding execution as appropriate.
  • Manages, reports, and maintains documentation on key projects.
  • Must be able to operate independently.
  • Provide oversight and product expertise for all banking systems.  This includes maintaining systems and troubleshooting system issues. 
  • Data analysis & provision of data-informed recommendations. Development of metrics to measure success of various initiatives
  • Requirements

  • Prior operations experience at a Financial Institution in the Digital Assets industry required. At least 5 years professional experience
  • Superior ability to assess risk and exercise judgment concerning complex problems.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations and regulatory landscape of crypto industry
  • Strong knowledge of traditional Financial Services industry standards and best practices related to banking systems.
  • Excellent investigative, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent ability to recognize control weaknesses and opportunities for process/operational improvements and develop viable risk mitigation strategies.
