Reporting to the Brand Director the Manager, Corporate Communications undertakes the following RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communications Strategy & Support

  • Lead the planning, delivery and implementation of all ethical, values based and DEIB corporate communication projects and initiatives that support the short, mid and long-term goals of the company
  • Contribute to Brand Department planning as it relates to DEIB, company values, giving and ethics communications
  • Build the strategic connections across internal and external stakeholders to drive success for integrated DEIB and corporate communications plans and activities
  • Support in the creation and execution of crisis communications, escalations, legal media relations
  • Work closely with the company’s Ethics Teams, DEIB Program Manager, and Brand Ethics Pod to ensure communications plans and tactics support the vision and strategy of each group
  • Develop and execute compelling strategic corporate communications plans and activities that advance our audience’s awareness and understanding of our actions and positioning for DEIB, our company values, giving and ethics with measurable results
  • Create a variety of corporate and values-led content (press releases, company statements, articles, posts, stories) for an array of audiences
  • Ethics and DEIB go-to-person for the marketing and creative teams to assess their work
  • Assist the Internal Communications Team with DEIB and corporate communications strategy and counsel as well as the creation of content as needed
  • Ensure the alignment of corporate messages, positioning and timing with the Internal Communications to ensure employees are always a priority message stakeholder
  • Measure the effectiveness of corporate communications strategies and approaches incorporating lessons learned into current and future projects/programs
  • Manage external agencies as needed

Issues and Crisis Communications Counsel & Support

  • Support the Brand Director in issues/crisis planning and message response
  • Support and as needed lead the development of responsive messages that can be unpredictable around fast-moving issues with tight deadlines
  • Provide counsel to senior leadership team with regards to corporate communication strategies
  • Lead the creation of message response for escalated, urgent and sensitive inquiries received by the Customer Care and Social Media teams
  • Monitor, track and report on emerging and active issues that may negatively impact the brand
  • Maintain the company’s statement/message book and holding statements

Media Relations

  • Support the company’s PR team to respond to media inquiries and request for interviews
  • Prepare and train executives and senior leadership for interviews related to DEIB, corporate values, ethics and issues
  • Write, acquire necessary approvals and distribute press releases and company statements on DEIB, corporate values, ethics and issues as needed
  • Promote executive and corporate thought leadership through digital content channels
  • Manage the company’s corporate newsroom and media assets
  • Track and report on corporate communication media relations results and opportunities

 

You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • 8+ years progressive experience in corporate communications and/or public relations with a solid, proven media relations base
  • Extensive corporate communication and PR experience in strategy planning and execution, media relations, thought leadership, brand storytelling and digital communications proven with measurable results
  • Proven experience in ethics and values-based corporate brand messaging/communications
  • Experience in successfully developing, writing and owning corporate crisis communications
  • Strategic thinker who exhibits sound judgement and a high level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential and/or proprietary information
  • Demonstrated knowledge and thought leadership in the field DEIB, including recent trends and critical issues from a corporate perspective
  • Experience in monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of communication strategies and approaches including reporting results and identifying areas to improve
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior management and advise on key communication strategies and how they support business objectives
  • A natural collaborator, experience in working with multiple stakeholders at all levels of the organization and can easily build relationships
  • Experience working with external partners/legal counsel/agencies to develop confidential communication strategies
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment and can prioritize effectively as you execute on multiple projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to apply to a variety of media (press releases, statements, social media articles/posts) complemented with strong presentation creation skills in PowerPoint or Keynote.

Preferred:

  • People coaching, leadership and management experience is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
  • Relevant work experience in DEIB communications
