The Media Technology team at Major League Baseball designs, develops and operates a global streaming platform that delivers baseball to every corner of the planet. Our award-winning ecosystem helps support all 30 MLB clubs, 120 MiLB teams, and enables millions of fans to access the game wherever they are. 

Located in our Los Angeles, CA office, we are seeking experienced and talented engineers to join our pioneering team to craft the future of sports entertainment. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with other world-class engineers, product developers, and designers to contribute and influence products across the baseball and streaming industry.

Responsibilities

  • Deep technical experience with digital video technologies
  • Excellent understanding of compressed video/audio codecs and containers for HTTP delivery
  • Working knowledge of Virtual Reality (VR) encoding techniques
  • Understanding of digital IP workflows based on RTP/UDP and SMPTE standards including 2110 and 2022-7
  • Skilled in working with mezzanine codecs and their relationship to bandwidth sensitive environments
  • Ability to recognize and troubleshoot issues inside software applications and infrastructure environments
  • Great organizational skills; must be able to track large scale projects and keep multiple teams updated on status

Qualifications & Skills

  • Highly proficient in a programming language of your choice. Python, Javascript, Java. We are open to your experience
  • Highly proficient with protocols such as HLS and/or DASH. SRT and RTMP
  • Knowledgeable about network protocols, e.g. TCP/UDP, RTP, etc.
  • Experience or experimentation with HEVC, AV1 and VVC video codec
  • Experience with Elemental appliances and AWS Media Services
  • Experience with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs). Varnish Cache, TTLs, etc. 
  • Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or other Infrastructure as Code management systems
  • History with or knowledgeable about Unix shells and scripting. FFmpeg integration a plus
  • Extensive cloud experience. GCP and/or AWS preferred

Salary Range: $145,000 - $175,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB considers relevant to the hiring decision. The Senior Coordinator, Player Social is a member of the Player Engagement team and is primarily responsible for supporting and continuously improving the Player Social Program and the management of Player Engagement-run social accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Support the overall functions of the MLB Player Social Program
  • Help improve and shape the player experience on Greenfly and within the Player Social Program as a whole
  • Liaison with agents and players and solicit feedback on program experience & app experience to optimize for max usage
  • Help liaison with agents, players, and player families on MLB Player Engagement initiatives and programming
  • This role will supervise/manage a team of Player Social Coordinators.
  • Support the overall functions of the Operations vertical of the Player Engagement Team
  • Run various social accounts managed by the Player Engagement team which currently includes accounts for the Player Social Program and 6-1-1 Podcast.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in related field
  • Minimum 3 years professional experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Flexible team player, with a track record of reliability and strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with celebrities or sports players a plus
  • Experience managing social accounts from strategy to execution
  • Understands the social landscape, trends, and how consumers and athletes use each platform
  • Experience improving and/or establishing processes to increase efficiency, deliver results, and meet objectives
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external partners
  • Content editing and production is a plus

Salary Range: $70,000 - $75,000 (Base Salary) + Bonus
