Your Main Focus Will Be:

  • Teach, train and prepare trainees for the NYS DMV Road test.
  • Provide daily in-person instruction, observation and evaluation of classroom, range and road topics, as outlined by the FMCSA ELDT guidelines.
  • Oversee safe operation and use of equipment, ensuring that the company policy and standards are being adhered to.
  • Supervise all assigned trainees and complete the necessary documentation for each trainee such as attendance and training records.
  • Communicating and monitoring standards of professionalism for all customer facing positions.
  • Implementing and overseeing DOT regulations for drivers. Ensure drivers maintain proper credentials.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations.
  • Effectively and efficiently resolve trainee issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership, including but not limited to assisting with training throughout the organization.

Position Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated and flexible, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Critical thinking and strong problem solving skills.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.  Advanced Skills a plus.  
  • Leadership and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Must have a valid CDL Class-A License, with a minimum of 3 yrs verifiable over-the-road or local commercial driving experience.
  • Must have a clean driving record (under 4 points), fewer than 2 preventable accidents with the last 5 yrs, no more than 3 moving violations in the last 5 yrs and fewer than 2 suspensions within the last 3 yrs.
  • Must have a valid DOT Medical Examiner Certificate and pass a DOT drug and alcohol screen.
  • Must be able and willing to attain an instructor license from a state approving agency as applicable.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate and provide training to others.
  • Must have the abilities needed to provide instruction in accordance with FMCSA’s ELDT guidelines.
  • Must be willing to travel to locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Suffern and Wyandanch.
  • Knowledge of the route delivery process a plus.
  • Multi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.

Accountability

  • Directly accountable to the Senior Training Manager.

Salary: $85,000.00-$90,000.00
It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
