We are looking for a Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our product-facing engineering team. In this role, you will help shape and build new product features designed to expand our user base into international markets. Your work will directly impact how Mark43 supports first responders around the world. 

What You’ll Do 

If you were part of our team, here are some things you would have done last week: 

  • Developed microservices to support a rapidly growing product, contributed to infrastructure automation, observability, and deployment tooling 
  • Designed and implemented new backend services using Java and MySQL to support international localization needs 
  • Built and maintained GraphQL APIs that power our frontend applications 
  • Collaborated with Product and Design teams to understand global user requirements and translate them into scalable software solutions 
  • Participated in code reviews to uphold engineering quality and promote knowledge sharing 
  • Deployed updates using CI/CD pipelines, ensuring zero-downtime and reliability across multiple regions 
  • Troubleshot a production issue affecting a new language support feature and deployed a fix within hours 

What You’ll Need 

We’re looking for an engineer with 3+ years of professional experience working with Java, MySQL, and GraphQL. You should have hands-on experience with full CI/CD pipelines and a strong understanding of scalable backend systems. This level of experience is necessary to take ownership of complex features and deploy them confidently to production.

Our team is located in New York City. While we value in-person collaboration, we offer hybrid flexibility in where you do your best work. Some travel may be required to support launches or customer onboarding in new regions.
