About the Team

You will be joining the Fulfillment and Experience (F&E) team at Meesho working on enabling Meesho entrepreneurs deliver a world-class experience to their customers. As one of the prime movers in the e-commerce logistics ecosystem, the F&E team are solving industry-defining problems at scale that few startups can offer globally.

About the Role

As Director - WaaS (Warehousing-as-a-service), Consolidation, you will be leading the scale-up of two of the biggest levers to move user experience and cost-to-serve on the platform. You will be a key stakeholder in shaping the Fulfillment and Experience org at Meesho, which is responsible for delivering the right post-order experience to all of our 100M+ users - including order fulfillment, user and seller support, weeding out fraudulent players -  along with innovating levers to reduce cost-to-serve for the most price-sensitive e-Commerce buyers in the country.

Your key responsibilities will be to maximize platform NMV growth (realizable through WaaS) and cost reduction through supply chain innovations like marketplace-led consolidation of customer orders across sellers. You will also own the overall P&L of these two charters as their goodness to the platform is expected to be self-funded (e.g. by levying warehousing processing fee to sellers). You will have complete autonomy to deliver these results via all related levers - team building, process implementation, and product & tech interventions, where you will interface with the tech leadership to define priorities. 

What you will do

  • WaaS: 
  • Own overall platform NMV growth from WaaS  including seller acquisition, activation and retention, NMV uptick per impacted customer, operational excellence at 3P warehouses, and overall platform PnL 
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the value proposition, seller pain points, and concerns in the current construct
  • Drive seller acquisition, activation and retention programs in a scalable manner - tailored to Meesho’s fragmented 1.5L + monthly active seller base
  • Ensure great customer experience via low prices, high fulfillment speed and quality-related levers
  • Drive launches and performance management of 3P warehouses processing Meesho sellers’ inventory
  • Build a selection strategy  and plan to ensure WaaS PnL overall is accretive to the platform
  • Develop Data science-powered forecasting models to maximize WaaS-eligible sellers and products

  • Consolidation:
  • Own platform cost reduction by consolidating orders from different sellers to the same user address in a drop-shipping model, while ensuring neutral-to-accretive NMV impact to the platform
  • Innovate the right Network, Facility and Process design to minimize speed delay due to consolidation
  • Drive seller adherence to defined process flows by ensuring the right fly-wheel to drive their incentives
  • Drive launches and process excellence at 3P Consolidation centers in order to maximize realized vs planned consolidation
  • Ensure great customer experience via lower price, quality checks, minimizing impact on fulfillment speed and inspiring trust on Consolidation center-dispatched orders
  • Innovate demand-side (platform discovery, ranking etc.) levers that can maximize orders eligible for consolidation and unbundling price benefits to the customer

  • General:
  • Build and mentor a high potential team who will independently drive business agendas
  • Build an ambitious scale-up plan for the next 12-18 months across charters
  • Define a granular Control Tower metrics and daily/ weekly / monthly monitoring to track progress Develop a thorough understanding of the platform ranking, discovery, seller and customer behavior, and existing pain points
  • Provide the highest level of customer satisfaction and monitor the key metrics across both – the buyers and sellers
  • Drive continuous problem discovery 
  • What you will need

  • Bachelors in Tech or Masters in Management and 6-12 years of experience in relevant fields2-3 years of experience in Strategy consulting/Implementation consulting 
  • Experience working in tech startups (e-commerce, b2b commerce etc.) will be added advantage
  • Strong problem discovery to break down 10x opportunities
  • Ruthless prioritization skills between immediate, medium and long term goals
  • Experience working across different teams and delivering projects successfully
