Job Description

The Senior System Administrator will provide technical leadership, oversight, standardization and validation of system infrastructure and architecture.  Responsibilities will include architecting integrated solutions that meet the performance, usability, scalability, reliability, and security needs of the organization.  The Senior System Administrator must possess deep technical experience which can be leveraged to build the vision, strategy, and roadmap for system management and infrastructure technologies within the organization.  In addition, this role will perform complex tasks including installing, configuring, maintaining, and managing systems within the Mitratech computing environment. Regular work involves administration and maintenance of critical systems that support business environments.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, testing, and implementation of new Mitratech products and 3rd party technologies.
  • Provision, secure, configure, and maintain virtual and physical servers.
  • Configuration of load balancers and other network devices in conjunction with the data center provider.
  • Monitor and maintain multiple hypervisor clusters.
  • Continuously review manual tasks performed by the Hosting team and identify ways to automate them.
  • User account and access management, provisioning and auditing.
  • Utilize and improve on established system monitors to forecast resource usage
  • Manage and execute system and security patching
  • Assist in the deployment of J2EE and .NET applications
  • Create, configure, and maintain SSL certificates and keypairs.
  • Lead the design and testing of disaster recovery efforts.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.

 Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in MIS, technical discipline or equivalent experience 
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience in Microsoft Windows and Linux administration
  • Advanced proficiency managing both the Windows and Linux operating system.
  • Advanced proficiency managing virtualization platforms such as VMWare.
  • Advanced proficiency in diagnosing complex infrastructure and application performance issues.
  • Basic proficiency in using load testing software such as J-Meter
  • Intermediate knowledge of physical and virtual networking.
  • Advanced proficiency in automating tasks with various technologies and scripting languages.
  • Advanced proficiency configuring web servers(Microsoft IIS, Apache httpd, NGINX, etc.)
  • Intermediate proficiency deploying .NET applications in Microsoft IIS
  • Intermediate proficiency deploying Java applications in Oracle Weblogic, IBM Websphere, or any other Java application server.
  • Intermediate proficiency configuring Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP, and Group Policy.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the TLS and SSL protocol, key exchange, and cipher suite negotiation.
  • Basic understanding of CVE ratings.
  • Intermediate proficiency in utilizing continuous deployment software such as Octopus Deploy.
  • Intermediate proficiency in utilizing cloud deployment technologies such as Terraform.
  • Intermediate proficiency with load balancing technology (BigIP F5, Citrix Netscaler, etc.)
  • Exceptional communication and documentation skills, this is critical to this role.
  • Experience managing multiple mid to large scale data centers (100+ servers.)
  • Experience working closely with application owners and engineering teams with a focus on meeting client expectations.
  • Experience with cloud architecture (AWS, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Microsoft Azure.)
  • Experience load and stress testing infrastructure and applications.
  • Experience designing for security.
  • Experience with capacity planning and forecasting data center growth.
