Are you an experienced RF Field Test Engineer? Would you like to help build the next generation Wi-Fi chips that will enable a new generation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices?

Morse Micro is Australia’s fastest growing semiconductor startup that is shaping the future of Wi-Fi technology for the multi-billion dollar Internet of Things markets. At Morse Micro you will be working with experienced professionals and engineers, some of whom are the team that invented the original Wi-Fi technology that is ubiquitous today.

Roles description:

The RF Field Test Engineer at Morse Micro will be responsible for conducting field testing of Wi-Fi HaLow chipsets, ensuring their performance and functionality in real-world environments. This role will involve collaborating with the Systems Integration Team to develop and execute test plans, analyze results, and provide valuable insights for the enhancement of our wireless technology.

As an RF Field Test Engineer, you will take new software and hardware releases and features out in the field for testing and manual data collection. Part of the job involves collecting data using basic software tools such as Iperf and ping, as well as running our internal test automation suites and troubleshooting any issues. The field-testing execution will include the gathering and preparation of all test equipment and requirements from stakeholders, transport to and setting up at the site. Once testing has been carried out, the results should be validated using basic checks and then the equipment may need to be moved for execution of the next test.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-field and in-house testing of Wi-Fi HaLow chipset applications to validate performance, efficiency, throughput, and reliability.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting during field-testing.
  • Develop and execute test plans for RF performance testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide feedback on chip performance.
  • Analyze test results, with help from development teams, and report back on field findings and learnings for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with industry standards and best practices related to RF testing.
  • Travel to different locations for field-testing activities as required.
  • Manage the logistics and preparation needed for onsite testing engagements, including equipment gathering, packing and transport to test sites.

Required Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of software development, and general testing methodologies.
  • Experience using basic Python and Linux programming languages.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and organisational skills with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
  • Must be able to travel locally up to 50% of the time to support onsite integration and testing events. (Must have a full open driver's licence).

Desirable:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
  • Prior experience in RF testing, preferably in wireless communications.
  • Strong understanding of RF principles, antenna theory, and wireless communication protocols.
  • Proficiency in using RF testing equipment such as spectrum analysers and signal generators.
  • Advanced experience with test automation tools and scripting languages (Python/Linux) is a plus.
