About the team

Treasury/ALM is part of Banking Alliance and is responsible for managing the entity’s funding and liquidity risks, raising capital and funding in the professional money and capital markets, and maintaining adequate liquidity buffers.

To support this role, Treasury/ALM has several core strategic objectives:

  • Manage the funding position - including designing and executing the long term funding strategies, managing/maintaining the liquidity position, and developing Treasury/ALM as a center of competence for funding and other balance sheet matters. Treasury/ALM is the single face of Nubank to the market, and is solely responsible for execution, structuring, and pricing of fund-raising.
  • Undertake the balance sheet management - including providing analytics and suggest strategies in line with risk-appetite, communicating and coordinating with other parts of Nubank, and driving the planning of Treasury/ALM financial activities. 
  • Manage the liquidity books - execute the liquidity buffer and other investments to minimize the cost of the liquidity buffer (within the agreed mandate).  Moreover, to develop an investment mandate for liquidity buffer and excess liquidity. 
  • Manage the execution of capital - including capital structuring and raising, driving the creation of a capital supply. To become a  center of excellence (on capital questions and market context), and drive the creation of the capital story for investors.
  • Managing the securities-finance arrangements, optimizing the risk-return in utilization of the cash and securities balance sheet within an appropriate prudential framework.
  • Manage the liquidity transformation, intermediating the flow of funds across businesses to ensure the efficient transfer and disbursement of funds, and deliver transparency around the sources of income across the bank. ALM  is responsible for all internal funding transformation.

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

  • Responsible for planning and execution of funding strategies, liquidity management, capital monitoring and prudential usage of derivatives.
  • Responsible for the overview and execution of the contingency funding plan and for the oversight of the liquidity stress tests.
  • Responsible for the compliance to regulatory requests.
  • Perform assessment of the tax frameworks changes' impacts on the portfolios.
  • Responsible for the FTP updates, approvals and the policy-making clarification and improvements when necessary. 
  • Performance of IFRS or other accounting exercises when necessary.
  • Maintain a high level of technical expertise within the team, enhancing business and product knowledge.
  • Support and champion the development and coaching of the team.

Core Competencies: Significant experience working within a Markets environment, risk management, and banking industry.

    • Strong understanding of core products, and markets.
    • Significant experience of Treasury/ALM related activities, ideally including the strategy, planning and execution of treasury activities:
      • Balance sheet management
      • Liquidity risk management
      • Short term funding 
      • Investments 
      • Capital 
      • Risk Management

Strong analytical skills, including financial risk related.

    • Experience of managing investor relations and regulators.
    • Knowledge of financial and tax law.
    • Strong communication skills, ability to assist with global strategy and communicate local strategy effectively.

Strong questioning style and inquisitive mind.

Job Skills and knowledge: 

    • Material experience (preferably as Trader/Dealer or Portfolio Manager) in the local markets and international fixed income markets.
    • Understanding of traded cash, bonds and derivatives instruments.
    • Strong communication skills with good network ability.
    • Familiarity with spreadsheets.
    • Good judgment of market developments.
    • Able to coach, connect, inspire and energize the team to achieve aims.
    • Proven knowledge on regulatory requirements.
    • Proactive nature.

Desirable: (Optional) 

    • International work experience; working in/with different locations/cultures.
    • Experience of operating in a matrix organization with functional reporting lines.

 

Qualifications: Essential:

  • 7+ years of relevant working experience
  • Finance or Economics Degree 
  • Fluent in English
