The developer experience team at Okta is looking for a product manager to help drive the vision for our developer portal including our main website and documentation resources. This is a perfect opportunity for a newer product manager who is passionate about developers or someone who has customer and developer empathy and wants to make the transition into product management.
As the product manager on the developer website, you’ll work closely with a variety of stakeholders including engineering, design, developer marketing, technical writers, and developer advocates, to define the requirements for a re-imagined Okta developer portal that incorporates community, learning, and training. You’ll also partner with fellow PMs and other stakeholders to prioritize enhancements to our documentation experience with an eye on making things easy for Okta content creators and helping developers understand and use Okta’s APIs and SDKs. You will be tasked with identifying key points in the developer journey and making sure that the website guides developers to the right place based on what they want to do.
Responsibilities:
- Gather and create detailed requirements for your engineering team and champion each release milestone.
- Turn your vision into a prioritized backlog informed by research, data, and collaboration around key developer journeys.
- Create and maintain the roadmap for the Okta Developer portal and Okta’s reference documentation pages.
- Collaborate closely and socialize ideas with a broad set of cross-functional stakeholders to incorporate feedback, ensure the success of the project, and that customer and developer needs are met.
- Work with Data and Analytics teams to ensure high quality instrumentation which allows you and other PMs to make data-driven decisions.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent communication skills (presentation, verbal and written)
- Strong leadership skills and presence
- 2+ years of industry experience in a technical or product role
- Understanding of HTML, JS, and CSS
Preferred:
- Knowledge in identity and access management
- Familiarity with content management systems and the content creation process
- Experience with developer docs, tools, or SDKs
- Experience working with developer communities.
