This is an opportunity to join the Industrial Design team for an industry-leading family of fitness products and accessories. You will lead our consumer electronics hardware's functional, aesthetic, and user experience aspects. In this role, you will work closely with our passionate team of designers, product managers, engineers, marketers, outside vendors, and key business partners to develop new products and features.
As a Color, Material, and Finish (‘CMF”) Design Lead - at Peloton, you will be responsible for leading CMF strategies and projects for all hard products in our core line. You will work hand in hand with the ID team in collaboration with Engineering and Sourcing to develop a CMF strategy for our long-term road map. Your ability to speak to upper management and cross-functional departments will be an asset to promoting design insights and direction to the entire organization.
YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON
- Support across all categories the respective ID teams on live programs with CMF direction by designing concepts, and providing needed color palettes and material specifications.
- Creating CMF-relevant deliverables for program achievements leading towards production.
- Create and maintain an internal library system for organizing color, material, and texture
- Develop a master sample chip library that is unique to Peloton
- Analyze and approve colors, materials, and finishes at different stages of the development process.
- Partner with Peloton's internal sourcing team and external vendors to develop standards for production.
- Drive critical initiatives to enhance the role of CMF on product development and in the wider development process.
- Develop a relationship with internal and external trend forecasting resources to create seasonal trend presentations for the design team, product, and creative teams to keep the teams informed of up and coming market trends
- Understand material trends and forecast innovative materials used in various Hard and Soft Goods applications across multiple industries including fitness, cycling, and consumer electronics.
- Become a leader with a vision for all things CMF and help to sharpen and expand the awareness and importance of CMF.
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
- 10+ years working in a relevant field of design
- Exceptional visual, communication, and presentation skills.
- Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign Key, and word processing (Basic Solidworks, CAD, KeyShot are a plus).
- You can manage your workload and operate individually.
- Able to travel to shows and suppliers both domestically and internationally.
- Previous experience growing a team and managing junior designers
