The Technical Training Leader ensures that Penumbra continues to provide technical and professional employees at all levels with the skills they need to grow with the company. 

Guides the training team in the development, facilitation, and management of technical and professional certification training programs for employees.  

The Technical Training Leader/Director will lead a team of Training Operations staff through conducting needs assessments, implementing training and plans and delivering training plans, programs, and activities across a variety of platforms.  

The Technical Training Leader will lead in assessing the landscape of professional certifications for a variety of technical roles, determining what certifications and courses are critical and/or relevant to the business, then determining the appropriate routes to make those offerings available to the business units that need them.      

Specific Duties and Responsibilities  
• Identify and assess the training needs of the organization through job analysis, career paths and consultation with key partners. 
• Collaborate with the Leader of Training Operations to establish strategic objectives for the Training Team
• Assign responsibilities within Training Operations to support strategic objectives and assignments 
• Analyze and create a regular reporting structure to report on data related to professional development programs and make recommendations for new programs and program enhancements 
• Research and implement innovative approaches and technologies in technical leadership development to enhance program effectiveness and engagement
• Manage and continuously enhance the PenEngineering University and Engineering Internship programs. 
• Lead the creation of credible and data-driven schedules and milestones, track the progress, proactively identify potential future issues, and identify mitigations with the various team leaders 
• Communicate and collaborate with other Supervisors/Directors regarding the goals, progress, and needs of the Operations Internship and Mentorship Programs 
• Develop and maintain relationships with local educational and workforce development agencies to partner on talent development pipeline initiatives 
• Manage, coach and/or mentor project manager(s) responsible for execution of projects in Operations 
• Supports and assists in the development, calculating and reporting of technical program KPIs and metrics 
• Collaborates with leadership on gap analysis and assessments and ensures that training content and programs are updated based on analysis findings 
• Work with Operations Leadership and stakeholders to support any training needs based on procedural needs, continuous improvement, customer needs and regulatory requirements 
• Create & execute learning strategies and curriculum for roles in throughout Operations 
• Direct the assessment and deployment of resources, including working with both internal employees and training vendors to develop and deliver training. 
• Interface with other departments to ensure that training systems meet requirements. 
• Work cross-functionally with all departments to coordinate, execute and/or resolve training-related issues and needs. 
• Ensure that training content aligns with related quality systems content and that compliance is maintained. 
• Guide the selection, maintenance, management and support of training software tools, learning management systems and technical personnel required by the business. 
• Ensure the Training team’s compliance with the QMS, domestic and foreign quality system regulations, standards and procedures. 
• Keep abreast of training trends, developments, and best practices. 
• Select, manage, train, and develop staff.
• Establish objectives and assignments and provide ongoing feedback through performance reviews and development plans. 
• Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures. 
• Understand relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adhere to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company. 
• Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures. 
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.   

Position Qualifications  
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other Technical discipline or related field with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of demonstrated performance, education and experience.                       
• Ability to consult with executives, managers, and cross-functional partners to identify the key skills and competencies required for effective technical knowledge management within our organization 
• Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization 
• Medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industry experience desired 
• 1+ years of experience in an adult learning environment 
• 3+ years of experience in a management or supervisory role desired 
• Knowledge of GMP/ISO 13485 regulatory environment  
• Superb track record in developing and executing successful training programs. 
• Critical thinker with innovative problem-solving skills 
• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills 
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail 
• Highly computer literate with proficiency in MS Office and related business, LMS and presentation communication tools  
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize assignments while handling various projects simultaneously 
•  Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment with confidential and sensitive information  

Working Conditions   
• General office, laboratory, and cleanroom environments   
• Willingness and ability to work onsite.  
• Business travel from 10% - 20%   
• Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens 
• Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds  
• Must be able to move between buildings and floors.  
• Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day.   
• Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets.    
• Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed.  
• Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels on a daily basis. 

Starting Base Salary is $182,520 - $284,012 
Individual compensation will vary over time-based on factors such as performance, skill level, competencies, work location and shift.
