Merchant Platform is at the forefront of digital advertising, Pinterest has a great selection of well-known merchants and has a relevant audience who seeks inspirations everyday on our platform. Merchant Activation & Scale is responsible for helping merchants better choose and craft the best products to be delivered to pinners. We’re looking for a talented Staff Full Stack Engineer to lead Catalog Foundation & Scale team and rapidly iterate with a strong focus on cross-team and cross-functional partnership.
What you’ll do
- Own the technical direction and roadmap for a major area in the Merchant team.
- Exemplar for technical quality - design, implementation, documentation, code reviews.
- Identify architecture bottlenecks and propose scalable and extensible solutions to address them.
- Collaborate and be a thought partner to cross-functional teams to build scalable and resilient technical solutions.
- Be a multiplier on the team, mentor and uplevel team members
What we’re looking for:
- BS or higher degree in Computer Science
- 8+ years working experience in the engineering teams that build user-facing products. Commerce, Ad tech experience a plus
- Proven experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems, with a deep understanding of the pros and cons of various database types (RDBMS, NoSQL, NewSQL, etc.) and data processing frameworks. Able to evaluate and select the most appropriate technologies based on specific requirements and use cases.
- Strong architectural skills with a track record of building reusable, extensible, and flexible systems.
- Ability to align technical decisions across multiple teams and drive the execution of complex, large-scale projects.
- Skilled at identifying potential architectural challenges and proactively addressing them to meet evolving product needs.
- Strong product mindset with excellent communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective partnership with cross-functional teams.

In-Office Requirement Statement:
- We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
- This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times per month and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from one of the following offices in Bay Area or Seattle.
