Who We Are

Serving more than 3,300 scholars in six schools across two cities; Jackson, Mississippi and Nashville, Tennessee, RePublic Schools is the only school network solely dedicated to reimagining public education in the South. 

Part of reimagining education in the South means that we confront the historic inequities that work against our scholars and actively work to dismantle those inequities. We are searching for an intelligent, passionate, gritty, and hard-working Paraprofessional ready to lock arms with the teams in Jackson, MS for the 2023-2024 school year.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist the Special Education Teacher and General Education teacher in instruction for scholars with developmental disabilities in the classroom
  • Provide 1-on-1 support to scholars in a classroom setting
  • Provide intense monitoring of student behavior as indicated on the student’s Individual Educational Program (IEP) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
  • Facilitate communication, promote independence, and increase the social, academic, and self-help skills of students
  • Support specified students during unstructured times throughout the school day (i.e. transitions)
  • Participate in Special Education/Student Supports meetings and Team meetings as needed
  • Uphold other periodic responsibilities requested by the School Team, such as providing Student Supports testing coverage

Qualifications/Requirements: 

  • Paraprofessionals who provide instructional services must have done one of the following to meet the highly qualified requirements:
    • Have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education [defined as completion of 48 semester hours (or equivalent trimester hours) of college coursework or an applicable number of semester hours as defined by the institution of higher education attended, whichever is less; or
    • Have obtained an associate’s (or higher) degree; or
    • Have met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment
  • Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics; or
  • Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics.

Salary is competitive and commensurate based on experience. Compensation at RePublic includes a comprehensive benefits package.
