Process Technician (Packaging & Assembly)
Location: FREMONT, CA

As Process Technician (Packaging & Assembly), you will be in charge of sustaining activities in the backend packaging process toward building quantum integrated circuits. You will spend your time immersed in the hands-on fabrication of these devices. You will work in a fast-paced environment with a wide range of engineers and scientists in process, integration, design, and quantum engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run day-to-day wire bonding (manual, semi-automatic, and automatic) and die attach (manual) process in a class 100 manufacturing cleanroom. Activities will include equipment setup and recipes creation, operation, part inspection, and part rework
  • Follow specifications, packaging diagrams, and written work instructions.  Utilize die map, die inspection report, and electrical-test results for product pick & place for assembly 
  • Define and specify requirements for assembly tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support manufacturing operations and damage-free die handling
  • Perform detailed documentation post packaged chips 
  • Maintain and monitor failure Pareto from daily production activities and recommend product and process improvements to enhance yield and efficiency
  • Work with other fab team members, be responsible for tools, material, metrology, and process aspects of backend modules
  • Establish metrics, monitors, and process controls to run an efficient and predictable packaging and assembly process
  • Responsible for equipment and process calibration and monitors (SPC)Give feedback for process requirements to be met in designing and acquiring new equipment

  • About You

  • Associate/bachelor’s degree in engineering/technology/science and/or  > 5 years relevant hands-on semiconductor / MEMS fab experience
  • Hands-on experience using and operating a wide range of semiconductor/MEMS assembly and packaging tools, such as wire bonders, die-attach, epoxy dispense, flip-chip assembly, SMT, flux/solder (paste and solder balls), underfilling and cure, and relevant metrology tools
  • Hands-on experience in die-prep tools, such as wafer mount, and wafer die eject is a definite plus
  • Ability to operate and multi-task between multiple machines
  • Ability to use optical microscope 50% of your time – must have good eye/hand coordination and a steady hand
  • Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment, including hazmat handling protocols, and observing ESD practices
  • Should be able to organize failure data, draw correlations from process interactions, and present results in a concise fashion
  • Experience in a small and/or large fab process environment
  • A high degree of comfort with a flexible, agile small company environment. Flexibility in work hours and workdays
  • Detail-oriented, comfortable with computer-based recipe and wafer tracking systems
  • Should have good planning skills with excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Good communication skills
  • Comfortable with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Google-docs
