Roblox is looking for an Employment Attorney to strengthen its Legal function and support us in our growth plans, while ensuring ongoing risk management and compliance. You will lead the employment law function at Roblox, reporting to our Senior Litigation Counsel providing counsel and advice to support our operations. This attorney will be an important strategic advisor to People Resources and other business leaders, and serve as an important link between the People Team and the Legal department.
The position is seated at the Roblox Home Office in San Mateo, CA. We are not accepting any remote applicants. #LI-Hybrid
You will:
- Provide counsel and advice to the Company on all employment related issues, including recruiting, wage and hour compliance, contract or contingent workers, employee relations, performance management, discipline and terminations, internal investigations, reasonable accommodations, leave of absence, work permits, and discrimination
- Assist internal investigations
- Oversee the drafting and negotiation of offer letters and employment-related agreements, including severance, separation, restrictive covenant, retention, and other employment-related agreements
- Work with outside counsel on international employment matters such as employment agreements, policies, performance management and terminations
- Design and guide internal People Team audits
- Assist People Team in developing policies, procedures and training programs to guide compliance with employment laws
- Draft employee-facing policies, handbooks, and other resources
- Monitor new laws, regulations and decisions affecting the substantive legal areas above and provide strategic, preventative advice to People Team and partners
- Provide support to Litigation Team on employment related matters, including drafting responses and position statements, responding to information requests, and participating in fact-finding conferences and mediations
- Assist with due diligence relating to mergers and acquisitions
- Identify process improvements that help the legal team, the People Team and the business scale for growth
- Support Legal department and team related projects, as assigned
You have:
- 5+ years of related employment law experience
- 1+ year law firm experience
- Technology company experience preferred
- Broad subject matter expertise in federal and state employment laws and regulations
- Excellent judgment, discretion, and risk assessment
- Effective drafting skills
- Practical business acumen, driving pragmatic business-oriented solutions
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once
- Member in good standing of the California Bar or another bar association with the ability to register as in-house counsel in California
