You Are:

  • Battle ready: You have experience defining architecture for millions of users and are excited about technical challenges. You can be hands-on and still establish an architecture from scratch and make sure it can scale from a few users to hundreds of millions.
  • Experienced: You have 5+ years of experience in large-scale software deployments with experience leading large teams (10+) and delivering performant technical solutions. You own a BS in Computer Science, or advanced degree is a definite plus.
  • Knowledgeable: You understand critical components required to build a modern online virtual experience. You can recommend one route versus another and bring a team of engineers to agreement. You also love to pick up new technologies as the landscape evolves. It will be a plus if you have many years hands-on experience in building games, or you have a CS PhD on Computer Vision, Computer Graphics.
  • Versatile: You have mastered several languages and technologies already
  • Creative: You take a creative and strategic approach to solving hard problems and driving new tools/functionality for our developers
  • Team-oriented: You have a personality that invigorates the team around you and you are used to leading technical teams in any situation.

You Will:

  • Grow our organization by attracting and retaining passionate team members in the industry.
  • Become an expert on our technology stack.
  • Balance researching new technologies with a practical approach to accomplish the research efforts into the Roblox products.
  • Author specs for new features and improvement.
  • Lead other engineers by example and through technical direction.
  • Collaborate with different teams to improve existing and develop new functionality, pipelines, and workflow.
  • Be guided by our vision to put the Roblox community first and represent us through experience.
For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.  All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.
Annual Salary Range
$283,780$331,640 USD
