The Snowflake Data Cloud is growing at an exceptional pace. It is adding innovative new features and capabilities and continuing to scale the service across multiple clouds, many exabytes of data, and the entire globe. 

Snowflake customers frequently cite user experience and an interface that is extremely powerful, yet easy to use as a critical factor in their satisfaction. The UI engineering group is tasked with building that best-in-class experience for analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and administrators. 

We are looking for an exceptional engineering leader to manage and grow this high-impact team. 

AS ENGINEERING DIRECTOR FOR THE UI TEAM, YOU WILL:

• Lead the teams to drive projects from idea formulation, to design, and to implementation.
• Drive great partnership with the product management team.
• Set team strategy and be accountable for team plans and deliverables.
• Grow and build a strong, healthy, and diverse team through hiring as well as mentoring and coaching.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams and cross-functional teams.
• Provide strong technical leadership to the team and partner teams.
• Build the vision for the team along with product management.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WITH:

• 15+ years of experience in software development (ideally in the front-end web application field).
• 10+ years of experience in managing and leading teams including experience working with teams building rich web applications with the latest browser technologies.
• Strong track record of managing multiple teams with 30+ engineers.
• Strong track record of delivering large-scale front-end applications.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Extensive and strong development experience in cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, is a plus.
• Experience in building distributed systems is a big plus.
• Experience with data visualization technology is a plus.
• Strong hands-on skills. Can drill deep into the complex system design and implementation when needed.
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors.
