We’re hiring a talented Software Engineering Manager to help us build a world class developer platform to fuel the Snowflake Data Cloud. As a Software Engineering Manager for DPE (Developer Productivity Engineering) you will lead and expand our distributed engineering team. Together with industry-wide experts in distributed systems, cross-cloud development and engineering excellence, you will evolve our developer infrastructure and tooling to be elastic, large-scale, and highly performant with simplicity at its core.

As the manager of the Performance Tooling team in DPE, you will help Snowflake realize its mission and vision of becoming the premier Data Cloud by accelerating the delivery of our high quality software to production. You will be a key stakeholder in driving clarity on our strategy and partner with product managers to chart the quarterly and long-term roadmaps for the team. You will ensure that the team is executing towards serving the current needs of its (internal) customers, while also ensuring that we stay ahead of technological trends and future demands.

OUR IDEAL MANAGER WILL HAVE :

  • Strong passion for making developers highly productive.
  • 2+ years of software engineering management experience.
  • 7+ years industry experience designing and building distributed data systems.
  • A track record of leading distributed technical teams.
  • Experience working in the performance space, either in a tooling or release signoff capacity.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, and strong CS fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
  • Fluency in Java, C++, Python or Golang.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, collaborate well, and mentor junior engineers.
  • A strategic mindset and strong sense of what to prioritize for maximum impact.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Outstanding written and oral English language skills.
  • Ability to work on-site at our Bellevue, WA office.

BONUS POINTS FOR EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOLLOWING :

  • Developing data or distributed systems internals.
  • Multi-tenant systems, with focus on reliability, performance, isolation and security.
  • Proven experience with authoring roadmap documents, project plans and RCAs.
