Snowflake is seeking an experienced privacy generalist to help shape and mature our privacy program. This role calls for a practical and self-motivated team player who can translate complex laws into operationally viable programs and is effective cross-functionallyThis role will report to the Head of Privacy in the United States. This is an in-person role based in either Bellevue (Washington) or Dublin (California).   

RESPONSIBILITIES :

This is a generalist role that will broadly support Snowflake’s global privacy program. Responsibilities may include:  

  • Analyzing global privacy laws and creating and executing operationally viable implementation plans.  For example, US/EU Data Privacy Framework, new U.S. state privacy laws, BCRs, global cookie compliance, data mapping and privacy assessment processes 
  • Providing privacy guidance to internal teams, including as it relates to the Snowflake Data Cloud product
  • Advising on developing AI/ML laws and Snowflake’s AI/ML strategy  
  • Working closely with the Security Compliance team to achieve and maintain privacy certifications
  • Providing privacy guidance in M&A transactions and post-close integration activities
  • Consulting on privacy issues arising in internal and external incident response
  • Assisting with global privacy-related employment compliance
  • Conducting and reviewing privacy risk assessments and data protection impact assessments, if necessary, and provide privacy advice to business leaders
  • Developing and updating privacy-related notices, policies, procedures, training, and guidelines
  • Partnering closely with our HR, IT, Security, Marketing and other business teams  

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE :

  • 7+ years of substantive privacy legal experience, preferably with recent experience in-house with a successful, high-growth enterprise SaaS company 
  • Recognized certification(s) as a privacy compliance professional (e.g., CIPP/US)
  • Experience with EU and international privacy and data protection laws, regulations and standards 
  • Experience with employment-related and IT-related privacy issues 
  • Exceptional organizational, project management, and prioritization skills 
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to pragmatically weigh the risks and benefits of complex situations 
  • Ability to work with people at all levels in the organization, in a fast-paced environment
  • Service-oriented, professional and strong integrity
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A good sense of humor and passionate about privacy
