Position Title:                       Facilities Maintenance Technician

Department:                          Facilities

Reports To:                           Facilities Maintenance Manager

FLSA Status:                         Non-Exempt/Hourly, Full-Time, Benefited 

 

Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks at our Central Office location. This role will perform a variety of building maintenance tasks in one or more fields (e.g. carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.) with the highest standards of efficiency.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Facilities Maintenance Technician is a full-time (40 hours per week), non-exempt/hourly position, potential overtime .  On-call duties required as needed, including after hours, some weekends and holidays in case of emergency.

Travel:
Local Travel is expected for this position. A valid CA driver’s license and a clean DMV report required.

Compensation Summary: $27-$31/hour, plus full benefits

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performing design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of a wide range of cooling systems, including HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), industrial refrigeration units, and data center cooling infrastructure.
  • Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing structural damage, fire sprinklers, etc. and reducing risk of future problems.
  • Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
  • Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs.
  • Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs, installation of televisions, and assembling chairs or desks as needed
  • Conducts regular inspections and ensures the upkeep and maintenance of all areas of the facility.
  • Ensures that all state, federal, and OSHA regulations pertaining to the buildings are followed.
  • Directs all emergencies including, but not limited to, fires, storm damage, chemical spills and major mechanical failures.
  • Completes special projects, duties and assignments in a timely matter.
  • Interpret complex laws, regulations, and/or policies.
  • Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions.
  • Assists other departments when necessary.

Work Experience & Competencies:

  • 3-5 years of working experience in facilities maintenance or similar industry
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, plumbing, and carpentry
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various and diverse teams.
  • Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, customer service oriented
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task
  • Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working on the building
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

  • Ability to push/lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Working in high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
  • Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints.

  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Computer Skills - Proficient in multiple operating platforms; should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power point. Able to enter and solve ticket queue issues.
  • Tools – Proficient with small hand and power tools.
