Location: Remote ( USA Only)

 

This software engineering lead role is focused on technical leadership with significant hands-on coding in Go for API servers and Identity Federation servers in the Banyan SaaS platform. The API is the control plane of the Secure Cloud Edge, the orchestrator of actions through our distributed system.

This role will include contributing to the overall platform architecture, balancing performance, reliability, and extensibility objectives while delivering features to our customers. Also, this role will provide technical leadership for our offshore Go backend engineering team, requiring strong communications and the ability to lead through time zones.

Role responsibilities:

  • You will play a critical lead role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software applications, ensuring security, performance, and reliability
  • Design and document well-structured, RESTful APIs that enable seamless communication for console UI, remote agents, and programmatic clients
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into efficient and robust code
  • Implement best practices in coding, testing, and supportability, adhering to the company's coding standards
  • Troubleshoot and quickly resolve customer issue escalations
  • Provide mentorship to a growing, distributed and remote team

Expected skills:

  • 5+ years of expertise and experience in Golang (Go programming language) is a must.
  • Best practice API design for SaaS application development with secure web development practices
  • Significant experience with authNZ protocols such as OAuth 2.0, SAML, SCIM, and OpenID Connect
  • Proficient in architecting and engineering large-scale distributed systems: 
  • Proficient in relational database design and database tuning 
  • Review code and technical designs from others, promoting stability, security, compliance, scalability, readability, and maintainability
  • Proven ability to detect and debug customer issues by leveraging APM, Log Management, and Observability systems
  • Proven ability to distill business objectives into technical solutions through effective system design and architecture
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, pulling together a diverse group of remote individuals with different goals and facilitate productive discussions
  • In essence, we seek a candidate who not only possesses the requisite technical prowess but also exhibits a proactive mindset, capable of driving impactful change and delivering tangible results within the software development landscape

Education and Experience: 

  • At least 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 6 years experience; or equivalent experience preferred    
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

 

Compensation varies based on location and work being performed. The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $163,262 – $228,000 for annual base salary. Employees may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses and commissions. The successful candidate’s actual pay will also be based on qualifications and experience, so the actual starting pay may be above or below this range.
