CONSTRUCTION PROJECT SPECIALIST (STARSHIP)

As a member of the Starship Infrastructure Build team you will work with a group of elite technicians and engineers across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects, across both launch and production, pertaining to delivering orbital launch capability for Starship at Launch Pad 39A. The Construction Project Specialist is responsible for keeping the business-critical infrastructure compliant and in adherence with SpaceX standards. The influence of this Construction Project Specialist is critical to the success of SpaceX. This position is based in Cape Canaveral, FL.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, coordinate, and provide support for construction project operations for Starship launch and production projects to ensure vendors meet SpaceX and regulatory standards while delivering promised services, materials, and craftsmanship
  • Interact with tradesman, contractors, and building officials to coordinate and execute construction and installation of Starship launch systems
  • Direct construction projects to ensure that the work is safely completed with minimal interruption to operations
  • Assist engineering teams with budgetary trades, drawings, and design to ensure projects meet design intent and can be completed on time and within budget
  • Keep accurate records of daily logs, progress reports, and financial reports
  • Willing to support the mission as needed

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience in construction, fabrication, or manufacturing

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience in construction with the capability of both directing projects and providing hands-on support
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction best practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial and industrial civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Organized, self-driven, and capable of working independently with little direction
  • Demonstrated innovative and futuristic thinking to drive continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated the ability to independently and effectively manage projects in an extremely fast paced and changing environment; keep projects on time, deal with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and work with a diverse array of contacts

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work at elevated heights (300+ feet)
  • Physical effort with climbing up and down stairs regularly throughout the day
  • Physical effort with lifting and carrying materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs.)
  • Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain
  • Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends when needed based on site operational needs; flexibility required
