GOVERNMENT SALES MANAGER – TOP SECRET CLEARANCE

The Starlink Government Sales team is expanding to support our Starlink sales for both domestic and international markets. This role will assist in setting sales strategy, pricing, and capture of Starlink sales within Government markets. In addition, this role will support our Government R&D programs that are pushing the boundaries of in-space capabilities. Our missions support scientific research, classified national security space and commercial opportunities. Specifically, this role will identify and capture new work through identification of opportunities aligned with corporate strategy and product direction while solving critical national security issues. 

In addition to locating suitable opportunities, the ideal candidate will be able to develop comprehensive pricing and market analysis, using quantitative modeling, so as to win competitively bid procurements. Additionally, the role will own cost and pricing portions of proposal development from start to finish. While the primary focus of the role will be on Starlink and Government R&D efforts, scope will span a broad cross-section of SpaceX’s applications—launch, satellites, operations, transportation services, etc. to include assisting on an as needed basis for any SpaceX RFP response.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver actionable insights through data analysis and synthesize results in succinct presentations to aid senior management in decision making.
  • Develop and maintain authoritative data sources to inform pricing, market size estimates, etc.
  • Dive deep into complex customer markets to identify trends, insights and opportunities for SpaceX to pursue.
  • Create and quantitatively substantiate pricing models for SpaceX products.
  • Support development of complex proposals including pricing, strategy, and win themes.
  • Own delivery of the cost and pricing volumes for competitive bids.
  • Actively collaborate with engineering, customer ops, finance, and other internal business units to drive sales results and efficiency.
  • Reconcile divergent demands of multiple stakeholders in a fast work environment.
  • Support government affairs on an as needed basis

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2+ years of experience with data driven decision making, strategy, data analysis, and forecasting.
  • 2+ years of experience in business development, US Government acquisition, and/or finance.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline or an MBA.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, preferably in a team environment.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to assess market trends that indicate business opportunities several years in the future.
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization.
  • Strong background in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience as a management consultant at one of the top-tier consulting firms.
  • Working knowledge of both commercial and government space launch and satellite markets.
  • Working knowledge of the DoD acquisition process.
  • TS/SCI security clearance.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Active Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance. Note that an active clearance may provide the opportunity for you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions. If so, you will be subject to pre-employment drug and random drug and alcohol testing.
