GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT ENGINEER (STARLINK PRODUCTION)

As a Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Engineer supporting the Starlink Production team, you will be responsible for enhancing the factory and test equipment infrastructure on the production lines of one of the most ambitious missions that SpaceX has undertaken to date, the Starlink satellite constellation. You’ll be an integral member of a diverse team in charge of solving mechanical design and software problems, activating and automating tooling and equipment, and working to drive multidisciplinary technical problems to closure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Improve efficiency and reliability to streamline, build, integrate and test site-wide processes/operations
  • Perform front-line, component-level and integrated system test engineering support for production
  • Drive continued hardware quality improvements through support equipment design and deployment
  • Develop upstream process improvements to improve
    • Analysis and design
    • Material/component construction, selection and procurement
    • Maintenance of test stands, tooling and infrastructure support
  • Responsible for day-to-day production and test of satellite hardware across multiple technical disciplines
  • Maintain record of GSE alongside rapidly-developing structural, electrical and electromechanical designs

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or other engineering discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in professional design and/or engineering analysis (internships, student projects, and professional experience qualify)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency with programming and automation/scripting languages (Python, C++, SQL, PLC)
  • Proficiency in drafting programs (NX, SolidWorks, EPLAN)
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical and/or electrical design
  • Experience working with digital or mixed-signal designs
  • Experience with automated production test systems/executives
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, and soldering equipment
  • Experience with vehicle manufacturing processes and assembly
  • Experience in a fast-paced, iterative design environment

  • Willing to work weekends and extended hours as needed
