LEAD SENSORS ENGINEER

As the Lead Engineer of sensors production, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge, experience, and creativity to develop novel solutions to a diverse set of multidisciplinary technical challenges. As the primary liaison between production and design engineering you will be responsible for influencing both teams in an effort to maximize production efficiency while maintaining the highest levels of vehicle reliability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team of up to 5 engineers supporting the fabrication and testing of sensors for SpaceX vehicles and spacecraft
  • Aggressively develop, qualify, and implement manufacturing process improvements to ramp production rate, root cause failures and increase process yield
  • Coach and support the technical and professional development of direct reports
  • Create capital/facility justifications for process automation projects and manage through implementation
  • Set and manage objectives for team members that translate to operational results and report on progress
  • Create clear division of team responsibilities to foster a culture of ownership and accountability
  • Ensure all direct reports understand and follow company policies, practices, and procedures through rigorous onboarding and training

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or industrial engineering
  • 3+ years of manufacturing, design, and/or testing experience
  • Experience leading a team of individuals either as a project lead or with direct reports

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of experience leading a team of 3+ individuals either as a project leader or with direct reports
  • Demonstrated completion of impactful projects in a manufacturing or design environment
  • Strong data analysis skills (SQL/Python/matlab/etc.)
  • Experience executing a design of experiment
  • Implementing statistical process control in a production setting
  • Experience with specials process development & qualification
  • Experience transitioning development products to high volume production
  • Lean manufacturing principles
  • DFM requirements development
  • Proficient in modeling with 3D CAD software (for example – NX/Unigraphics, Catia, Solidworks)
  • Knowledge of gd&t used on on mechanical drawings
  • Automation and controls
  • Experience in fast-paced iterative design environments within the consumer electronics, mobile handset, medical devices, or automotive industries

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Position may require extended hours and/or weekend work
