LEAD, STRATEGIC SOURCING (CONSTRUCTION)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a team of purchasing professionals
  • Drive the team to ensure all deliverables and expectations are met
  • Identify and implement process, system, or training improvement projects
  • Provide weekly team status reporting and supplier performance trends, escalate to management when necessary
  • Manage strategy for the construction category
  • Collaborate with internal customers on forecast and requirements to execute company goals and use internal feedback to improve supplier performance and relationships
  • Conduct comprehensive supplier analysis to formulate a sourcing plan that includes strategic direction, roadmaps, price trends, market and industry position, and risk assessment
  • Develop should-cost models for competitive cost analysis
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to achieve technology, cost, quality, and delivery targets on SpaceX products
  • Administer moderate to large contracts and independently negotiate contract terminology, pricing, technical requirements, scope and terms, including responsibility, liability, indemnification, intellectual property and export compliance
  • Prepare, issue, and analyze RFQ packages for one-time and ongoing project requirements
  • Train and mentor the construction purchasing team on specifications, technical category expertise, internal workflows, and supplier management
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures and government regulations
  • Ensure the SpaceX sourcing team is continually improving

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business
  • 5+ years of procurement, engineering, or supplier management experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of indirect purchasing, construction and supplier management
  • Experience in sole source risk management
  • Experience in identifying and executing an optimized supply chain
  • Effective written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Quick learner and ability to prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needs
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Exceptional analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong technical knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Ability to conduct all activities with the highest degree of integrity
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environment

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work long hours and weekends as needed
  • Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
