STG Labs is hiring for a Fraud and Abuse Analyst to support its affiliated company, SurveyMonkey. What we’re looking for

SurveyMonkey’s Trust and Security team is multidisciplinary and is led by our Head of Security. The team rolls up into the legal and corporate affairs team under the VP of Privacy and Security. As a data platform business, the privacy and security teams often operate on the leading edge of compliance, where regulations struggle to keep pace with technology and the rules get fuzzy. As a Security Analyst, you will help defend SurveyMonkey’s products against misuse. This role reports to the Head of Security and is responsible for day-to-day fraud & abuse monitoring and evaluation. You will become a subject matter expert in our product abuse trends and use this knowledge to advocate for solutions and predict outcomes with new feature development. 

You will work to identify and categorize new trends and communicate your findings to cross-functional stakeholders across the organization, including Data Science and Machine Learning Engineering, Global Payments, Product, Legal, and Customer Support.

What you’ll be working on

  • Monitor fraud-related alerts across a diverse set of technologies and assess root cause and risk
  • Validate and analyze fraud and abuse-related detections and predictions daily
  • Own content review workflows and optimization, including overseeing updates to internal tools as needed
  • Identify emerging fraud and abuse trends, investigate new abuse vectors, and recommend potential solutions
  • Collaborate with machine learning and data science teams to identify opportunities to improve models or predictions
  • Partner on policy updates and evolve policy execution
  • Participate in threat modeling sessions to identify potential abuse-related concerns prior to product launches
  • Monitor and report key performance metrics and make data-driven recommendations
  • Embody a collaborative and consensus-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Analyze abuse & fraud patterns and recommend improvement to detection and response processes 
  • Participate in wider policy implementation and maintenance across privacy and security teams
  • Manage incident response as needed on a rotational basis. 

We’d love to hear from people with

  • 2-4 years Trust & Safety or fraud-related experience working for in SaaS or a related industry 
  • Familiarity with platform abuse-related issues and mitigations
  • Ability to evaluate abusive content and take action without close supervision
  • Exemplify our core Trust & Security team values (integrity, accountability, and discretion)
  • Be a respectful, team-oriented contributor
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong orientation toward problem solving and decision-making in an open and collaborative environment that will benefit the organization as a whole
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and conflicting priorities
  • Ability to respond to occasional event escalations during non-business hours

Nice to Haves

  • Project management experience
  • Basic familiarity with SQL
