Robotics Support Engineer
Here at sweetgreen’s Automation Team we’re at the forefront of restaurant automation. Our meal assembly automation - the Infinite Kitchen - operates daily at several of our sweetgreen locations across the country, but we are just getting started.
As we expand our footprint of Infinite Kitchens, we are seeking a Robotics Support Engineer to provide technical support, troubleshoot issues and help empower our restaurant head coaches to ensure the smooth operation of our Infinite Kitchens across the country.
This is an ideal role for someone with a breadth of experience and interest in robotics, mechanical systems and software.
This is a full time role based in Boston with up to 25% travel to our restaurants.
What You'll Do:

Respond to support tickets, investigate issues and provide guidance to our store operators and maintenance technicians.

Respond to the tech support phone line during regular working hours, in addition to answering calls off-hours.

Debug incoming support tickets and determine the appropriate field response.

Specify and document tests for technicians to run after maintenance tickets are complete.

Guide restaurant operators or third party technicians remotely through repair tasks, debugging and testing

Monitor Datadog dashboards, debug detected issues and create maintenance tickets where appropriate.

Create documentation for common tech support responses and repair tasks

Spend time in-restaurant learning to perform simple field repairs, enabling you to effectively train and guide others.

Identify repeated issues, improve documentation for responding to these issues, and report them to design engineering as opportunities for improvement.

Re-create tough to diagnose issues in our lab environment

Run tests for new ingredients in the Infinite Kitchen

The work schedule follows an A/B schedule. Week A: Mon-Thurs 7am-4pm, weekend on call. Week B Tues-Fri 7am-4pm with evenings on-call.
- Compensation: $20-$27.5 per hour which corresponds to $80k-$110k annually with a 65hr week guaranteed schedule inclusive of on call time
Who You Are:

Hands on experience with mechanical repairs and/or working in a lab / machine shop

Proven competence interpreting data and making data driven decisions

Experience debugging robotics, industrial automation or other mechatronics systems

Experience examining software logs to make decisions for mechanical systems

Experience scripting with a common programming language (Python/C/C++)

Excellent communication skills; comfortable communicating over e-mail, the phone, on video calls and in-person.

Eager to take on technical challenges when the answer might not be immediately apparent.
