The Specialty Retail Brands (SRBs) - AllModern, Birch Lane, and Joss & Main- offer a curated selection of high quality, stylized furniture and are striving to build the world’s largest specialty furniture brand. The mandate of the Specialty Retail Brand Profitability team is to maximize long term profitability by offering and exposing high quality products at prices that resonate with our customers in the Specialty marketplace, while optimizing for both supplier and customer outcomes. 

As an analyst on the SRB Profit Management team you will be in a fast-paced role that combines data analysis and strategic decision-making skills. This role will be responsible for executing, analyzing, and setting the pricing strategy for our SRB promotional events. With access to a wealth of data and cutting-edge analytical tools, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the future direction of the specialty retail promotional strategy. On top of these responsibilities, you’ll also have the chance to work cross-functionally providing guidance to departments like Promotions, Marketing, Merchandising, and Category, further broadening your skill set and helping you develop into a well-rounded analyst. What You’ll Do

As a member of the Specialty Retail Profit Management team, you’ll sit right at the center of the pricing organization helping us answer the most important questions about a growing segment of Wayfair’s business. You’ll use your analytical and problem solving skills to find new ways to improve and grow our specialty retail promotions. Your work will be highly visible and cross-functional; you will regularly engage directly with senior leaders across the business.

Core responsibilities:

    • Executing price changes for all of our Specialty Retail Promotional events including but not not limited to Black Friday/Cyber Monday, WayDay, Presidents Day, Memorial Day etc.
    • Setting price and margin impact expectations for all events and working with the promotions team to manage the expected profit margin drag appropriately.
    • Quality assurance checks on all price moves entering and exiting promotional events.
  • Evaluating performance post promotion and using learnings to iterate and improve on the promotional pricing playbook.
  • Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests to uncover growth opportunities and understand effectiveness of proposed strategies.
  • Setting a go-forward strategy for SRB promotional events by measuring the long term value of our promotional customers and evaluating the tradeoffs of being more or less promotional as a business.

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience working in a quantitative field or a degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or Engineering
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and/or G Suite
  • Familiarity with a structured programming language (e.g., SQL, R, Python) preferred
  • The ability to generate insights and solutions or build a story and strategy using data
  • Excellent critical thinking and interpersonal skills - ability to break down and communicate complex ideas and influence senior level and cross-functional stakeholders (to include exceptional verbal and written communication skills)
  • An ownership mindset with the ability to thrive in a highly ambiguous and fast-paced environment with a dynamic bias for action and a “get stuff done” attitude
  • A desire to win as a team - collaborative team player who wants to see themselves and others succeed and thrive
