As a Curated Merchandising Senior Manager, your category expertise strategy will enable you to curate a product assortment that combines business priorities with in-market trends and influence how your category curation comes to life across all Wayfair marketing vehicles in synergy with other merchandising arms of the business (exclusive brands and physical retail merchandising). You lead and are responsible for your entire team’s curation for an omni-channel assortment experience for the Wayfair customer - curating a small subset of meaningful products (of our zillion things) that support Wayfair’s goal of being trend right, seasonally appropriate, and relevant at all times across all channels.  Leveraging your advocacy for the customer (i.e., mindset, behavior) along with category trends with the various inputs available to you: consumer insights, industry trend reports, brand initiatives, performance analytics, strategic company initiatives (over indexing on the exclusive brand pool of skus), data driven category insights, you'll make a direct impact on overall sales, Wayfair share gains, and help give customers the power to create a home just right for them.  You will do this with clear buy-in of your key stakeholders in Category Management (representing Suppliers), Exclusive Brands, and Physical Retail.

 

What you'll do on any given day as a curated merchandising manager...

 

As a Curated Merchandising Senior Manager, you will own identifying and curating for a specific category of Wayfair products and you will gain alignment with key stakeholders on your recommended assortment. You will also represent your team’s work and be responsible for gaining buy-in on your team’s decisions from key stakeholders like Marketing, Creative, and Category Management. This customer-facing curated assortment will work hard across all marketing channels and be seen as the “it” products for a given timeframe.  You will study the competitive market. Your focus is to set the annual category curation strategy leading the sourcing and product prioritization for Wayfair with your team. You know our customers need better than anyone else for your category and are constantly thinking about how to ‘get to next’ for your curations and continue to surprise and delight. Your success requires tenacity, an analytical mindset, collaboration, influence, and a competitive spirit. You'll use your executive presence to work with stakeholders at all levels and navigate interesting, complex challenges.  You will ultimately decide what products should be highlighted and amplified across all marketing channels with crisp business justification to support your selections.

  • You build relationships, guide your cross-functional team and by extension suppliers in the development of customer-focused products selections that drive sales and engagement.
  • You have strong communication skills and operate with a solution-oriented mindset that enables you to convey complex topics in a concise manner to various audiences.
  • You have the ability to gain early and often strategic buy in with key stakeholders across the org
  • You are a people leader with a passion for developing and mentoring talent.
  • You coach your team and/or cross-functional stakeholders around innovative thinking for merchandising process improvements.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Buying/Product/Category Management experience. Prior experience in the home industry preferred..
  • Proven track record of driving top-line and bottom line results.
  • High level of proficiency in Google suite including Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail
  • Experience using sales and marketing performance data to make decisions.
  • Ability to develop strong cross functional relationships
  • Outstanding problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform work onsite in the Boston office four days per week
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Thrives in a high energy and fast paced environment, with the ability to be flexible and react to rapidly changing business needs and priorities
