The Wayfair Integrated Marketing team is looking for an innovative, strategic, and results-oriented content marketer to lead our content strategy and marketing for the Wayfair brand.  

 

This role will focus on setting the content strategy, planning, and operationalization of both brand and product marketing content. You will help build and scale Wayfair’s content franchises and establish our content marketing flywheel to drive omni-channel engagement and support macro business objectives. Simultaneously, you will push the organization to become better omni-channel marketers and storytellers in our every day Promo and Marketing campaigns. 

 

This Executive must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and have proven experience planning and executing editorial and marketing campaigns across big cross functional teams. The ideal candidate should be able to negotiate with key business partners to gain alignment on marketing plans and ultimately manage all aspects of project execution. The role will span coordination across a wide range of cross functional teams including but not limited to brand, promo, creative, marketing, operations, and data science. They must be a self-starter who is able to prioritize and deliver on deadlines with minimal supervision, have the ability to persuade, inspire and motivate their team members and other stakeholders and drive results. They should be able to think/act strategically, develop structured plans and be willing to execute hands on with a start-up type of mentality, while balancing creativity with analytics and agility with operational discipline. Candidates should be both idea generators and builders, with a sense of accountability, and a keen focus on delivering great customer experiences with measurable results. They should thrive in a culture of decisions based on analytics, be comfortable diving deep into the data, yet able to step-back and communicate both the strategic and immediate implications on priorities.

This role is based in the Wayfair Headquarters in Boston, with a hybrid schedule in the office Monday - Thursday and work from home on Fridays. This role is not remote eligible. 

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Content Marketing Strategy 
  • Develop long term marketing strategies to support both brand and product content marketing, omni-channel syndication across marketing, and production needs 
  • Work with creative team to inform concept ideas, testing, and execution in partnership; serving as commercial business lead in content development process 
  • Participate in content development, positioning, research and show pre-testing and designing a road map for content marketing
  • Co-own and contribute to design and implementation of complete launch plans and execution of marketing content for our flagship brand campaign and seasonal integrated campaign GTM.
  • Own the GTM brand and editorial content calendars 
      1. Inclusive of brand and commercial priorities and content franchises
      2. Congregate marketing channel calendars inclusive of but not limited to organic social, email, B2B, and Wayfair on Air to have ‘source of truth’ calendar on all consumer facing communications 
  • Commercial Content Franchises 
      1. Define and monitor business objectives linked to content marketing – by providing objective, data-driven marketing recommendations based on an in-depth understanding and analysis of content, customer and environmental information.
      2. Owning the operating model and syndication strategy for all content franchises inclusive of editorial/brand and commercial/supplier franchises 
      3. Collaborating with business leads to prioritize content lanes and loudness of different content franchises 
      4. Collaborating with marketing channels to identify promotional inventory that can be dedicated to support content franchises 
  • Management of Marketing Campaign Strategy 
      1. Lead a team of marketing campaign strategists that lead the end-to-end GTM and creative strategy for omni-channel marketing campaigns for Wayfair  
  • Measurement of Content Syndication 
      1. Redefine innovation and success metrics for content marketing franchises and campaigns 
      2. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of content marketing inclusive of content franchises and marketing campaigns 
  • Content-led Consumer Insights 
    1. Help develop a framework of content-led customer insights (in partnership with internal Insights lead) from all sources to funnel into the business
    2. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns including effective channel and creative strategy.

Qualifications

  • 12-15+ years of professional experience, 4+ years managing teams with creative & strategic editorial output; ideally a mix of in-house and agency experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to influence others;
  • Significant media industry experience. Familiar with content creation timelines
  • Experience with concepting, creating, and executing multi-phase and multi-platform campaigns and content stunts that are both strategic and seasonal
  • Seasoned stakeholder management with experience leading cross functional workgroups to further develop existing internal tools and best practices
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and remain focused while juggling multiple tasks, opinion and perspectives
  • Outstanding presentation skills
  • Proven interpersonal & communication skills with emphasis on building productive and positive relationships
  • Experience managing a successful team who are at the center of a cross-functional workflow
  • Deep understanding of all forms of content formats across multiple channels and platforms 
  • Excellent and proven people-management and development skills
  • Experience working in retail, ecommerce and/or direct-to-consumer preferred
