Wayfair is seeking an experienced leader to run our store development function and manage the growth of our physical retail portfolio. With four stores already open, Wayfair is building a physical retail platform for both Wayfair & Specialty Retail Brands that will be the offline destination for home. We believe there is white space in the brick-and-mortar market and an opportunity to create a differentiated retail experience that showcases the breadth and depth of our catalog. As we move into the next phase of our physical retail expansion, Wayfair is looking for a Head of Store Development who will support the continued growth of our physical retail initiative.

Depending on experience, the successful candidate will oversee some or all of the major store development work streams (Real Estate, Construction & Design) and be expected to:

  • Real Estate:
    • Lead a team that manages the rollout of physical retail across multiple brands on issues such as: timing and location of store expansion, landlord/developer partnerships, leasing structures, data-driven customer & market analytics, etc.
    • Develop market & site selection strategies, site identification and diligence, including data-driven processes to evaluate and compare retail sites; drive innovation in site selection processes and tools.
    • Build and maintain a real estate pipeline that will provide ongoing options to grow the store portfolio in the short and long-term.
    • Manage negotiation and execution of all retail real estate related transactions, including development deals, leases, renewals, expansions, subleasing and other transaction types.
    • Partner with brokers, landlords and developers as needed to execute Wayfair’s retail strategy.
  • Construction:
    • Oversee all store construction and remodel efforts.
    • Serve as the primary liaison with all internal and external stakeholders, including physical retail teams, Wayfair leadership, architects, contractors, specialty vendors and third-party project managers.
    • Maintain adherence to project timelines and budgets.
    • Implement construction-related process improvements to drive cost efficiency and streamline the rollout of new stores.
  • Design:
    • Work closely with cross-functional and external partners to refine the store concepts to optimize the customer experience, store performance, and financial outcomes across multiple brands.

The Head of Store Development will contribute to a high performing senior leadership team and positively shape Wayfair’s culture with the following characteristics:
