Wayfair, the largest online-only retailer of home furnishings and housewares in the United States, has an immediate need for an HR Country Leader in India. Responsible for the end-to-end employee experience for technologists in Bengaluru,  this leader is a key member of both the Tech Talent Leadership Team and the India Leadership Team.  This role will play a critical role in attracting, developing and building human capital for the organization. The candidate must demonstrate strong functional knowledge of all aspects of human resource management in formulating and executing Human Resource Strategy, which aligns to the overall business goals.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to build India as a Tech Development Center from scratch as part of a mid-sized US-based organization (20k employees). 

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic thought leadership and consultation to the establishment and growth of India Tech Development Center for Wayfair. Including but not limited to:

  • Act as a strategic advisor to the India Country Leader and the Leadership Team
  • Provide data-based analysis of the employee population and trends to the leadership team and help formulate people strategies based on the analysis 
  • Advise leaders on people growth strategies and initiatives to ensure retention and growth of high potential employees including growth and development plans, top talent programs, organizational change, design and employee communications.
  • Build and run the HR team dedicated to India
  • Drive employee engagement and growth by fostering an environment that is customer-focused, entrepreneurial, and delivers results. 

 

Responsible for the end-to-end employee lifecycle:  build thoughtful attraction plans, determine mechanisms to create a strong Wayfair culture, onboard new team members to enable early success, drive a high performance bar, support the growth and development of team members, handle all employee issues through a thoughtful service model, employee relations and employee separation. Proactively and reactively addressing employee issues; Ensure back-end HR operational processes are managed well in terms of accuracy, frequency & compliance, leading to seamless service delivery

 

Partner with HR global centers of excellence to translate and customize global company-wide solutions to fit for the India Technology team. Including but not limited to: 

  • Provide expertise on the required employment practices; act as the singular point of contact for key employee employment issues
  • Build an organization that is fully compliant with all statutory and regulatory requirements. Be the point person for all statutory compliance and regulatory requirements. Work with legal, finance, external entities, and global corporate compliance partners.
  • Provide consultation on the total rewards for India-based employees to ensure competitive and fair pay. 
  • Lead talent management, performance, and compensation cycles for India employees

Build and lead the India-based recruiting team to deliver efficient, high-quality attraction strategies and delivery of the India TDC growth strategy

  • Evolve employer branding to attract top talent
  • Determine TDC growth plans and develop hiring plans to meet demand 
  • Develop University strategy and partnership to recruit in-market t

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field required
  • Significant experience in human resource, preferably in start-up or growth companies
  • Knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of HR functions, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Experience establishing HR as a strategic corporate asset and tool in building a unique corporate culture
  • Expertise in HR functional areas including talent acquisition, performance management, learning and development, and compensation and benefits.
  • Experience creating and executing programs in strategic HR areas such as operations efficiency, org development and change management
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring leaders, being an effective sounding board for business leaders
  • Strong collaboration skills using data to influence and shape strategies
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed organization and across multiple time zones
  • Strong written and oral communication is essential
