Associate, Planning & Allocation

The salary range base pay for this position is $64,000 - $70,500 per year.  The base salary base pay offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. 

 

This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) based in our Boston office. Attendance in-office is required Monday - Thursday, Friday is WFH optional.

The Planning and Allocation team partners across the organization to maximize the customer experience when shopping in person at our expanding fleet of Physical Retail Stores.  We work closely with Merchandising, Operations, and Inventory Management teams to drive availability and enticing assortment selections in stores, ensuring customers are able to shop and purchase the curated assortment they want to see. 

Wayfair’s Physical Retail team is seeking a highly motivated Associate of Planning & Allocation who is comfortable operating in a fast paced and ambiguous environment for the Physical Retail P&A team to support the allocation of inventory to our stores. This role will partner with a variety of internal teams (Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, Marketing, Inventory Management) to support our Specialty Retail brands and execute the allocation strategy as we continue to scale stores across North America. 

Responsibilities:

  • Execute inventory movements to meet availability and turn goals at individual retail stores.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate business allocation status to business leads and Supply Chain and Store Operations teams for new store launches and seasonal flips 
  • Assist in developing efficient allocation processes that adhere to Go To Market calendar guidelines. 
  • Develop forecasts and execute allocations to bring seasonal assortment selections to life in the store. 
  • Identify risks and opportunities with the allocation process, and adjust as needed to ensure sustainable inventory practices.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses using Excel and internal dashboards to drive decisions. Work cross functionally with multiple teams to solve business problems

Requirements:

  • 1+ years in an operations or analytic focused role, with allocation or replenishment experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills; to leverage data (quantitative and qualitative) to drive strategic decision-making and tight execution
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills. Ability to provide detailed updates internal & externally on performance, opportunities and go forward business strategies
  • Ability to prioritize workload autonomously
  • Bachelor's degree; studies in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Analytics, Business Administration, Operations Research, Economics, Statistics, a plus 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel/ Google Sheets (including use of Pivot Tables, and complex formulas) to perform deep-dives on performance and analyze trends 
  • Retail experience is a plus, with preferred experience in Home or adjacent categories (e.g., general merchandise)
