Partner Home (PH) is Wayfair’s supplier facing platform that enables our 11,000+ supplier-partners to manage and grow their business through Wayfair. We have several hundred engineers in Boston and Berlin building applications and user journey that contribute towards this mission. The Partner Home Platform team, based in Berlin, is the team responsible for accelerating all teams working across Partner Home towards building a cohesive supplier experience and driving supplier outcomes by providing a set of high-leverage modular components for supplier user journeys and functionality.  In this role, you will be responsible for shaping and extending the architecture and driving our product and engineering teams forward with platform enhancements. 

Your work will impact thousands of suppliers, and in turn, millions of customers, and as the sole Principal Engineer on Partner Home, you will have a tremendous opportunity to impact the growth and development of the business.

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as a technical leader and drive the future roadmap of the Partner Home platform 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across product and engineering to understand pain points, and opportunities and define and lead high-impact platform initiatives to make the most of these opportunities
  • Act as a trusted mentor and advisor to other engineers and help develop their skills while assisting them on a variety of projects whilst staying true to our architecture vision 
  • Leverage data to understand risks, priorities and scope of business objectives and develop near term goals and strategic vision
  • Develop and align standards and best practices for developing, testing and releasing applications to suppliers
  • Drive platform initiatives and API development across dozens of services
  • Show a passion for innovation and results
  • Encourage and promote a culture of innovation, results and world-class engineering across the wider engineering community

What You'll Need:

  • Extensive experience across a range of contexts, with a preference for candidates with large-company, start-up and platform building experience
  • Hands-on experience driving platform transformations within high-growth environments at scale
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with hypothesis-driven problem solving and turning data into actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated experience driving teams forward. 
  • Ability to collaborate and influence at all levels across business and technology 
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Java, containerization, and microservices is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
