Wayfair is laying the foundation for a new line of business within the physical retail segment. We plan to complement our industry-leading ecommerce sites with physical stores that will give our customers an entirely new way to shop and will enable a seamless omni-channel experience. We are assembling the Physical Retail team to realize this vision now.

You will be part of a highly skilled engineering team that is building our global tech platform for physical retail. As a leader in our software test discipline, you will be able make an enormous impact on the trajectory of our technology and business capabilities.

The ideal candidate for this role has a passion for software quality and demonstrable expertise in implementing best practices of Quality Engineering throughout the SDLC. You aim for simple, scalable solutions, and demonstrate the ability to think creatively and critically while leveraging deep and broad knowledge of test-architecture and software development.

What You’ll Do

  • Working with one or more Agile Scrum teams, your work will begin at the earliest stages of product development; Influencing requirements, architecture, design, and process to enable and improve testability.
  • You will own the test strategy for one or more complex systems - working with teams across the organization to define and execute test plans that ensure end-to-end quality
  • You will advocate for quality alongside engineering and business stakeholders throughout all phases of the SDLC on behalf of internal and external customers.
  • You will have an automation-first test mindset, developing tests in parallel with feature development.
  • You will analyze and decompose complex software systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence design for testability.
  • You will leverage existing test frameworks, and contribute to their extension, to accomplish your objectives in a CI/CD environment.
  • You will use your knowledge and experience in test automation to determine the best type of test to implement, such as API, Integration, DAO, UI, or manual test, based on the needs of the team and product.
  • You will share your knowledge, experience, and practical results across multiple teams, as part of Wayfair's culture of collaboration.

 


Must haves:

  • At least 8+ years of experience working as a Quality Engineer or SDeT with automation tools knowledge, including such tools as Selenium, Karate, Cypress, Appium, or others.
  • You have served as a leader or mentor for junior team members and direct peers in testing methodologies, with experience in proactively sharing information of best practices.
  • Demonstrable expertise with a modern programming language (such as Java, Javascript, Python, PHP, Swift, C#, or others)
  • Experience with API/Integration testing and advanced testing methodologies such as All-Pairs Testing, Clustering, Boundary Value Analysis, Equivalence Partitioning, etc. 
  • Strongly motivated to apply technical skills to solve tough problems and propose creative solutions with automation, finding the best solution for the needs of the team while driving best practices in testing.
  • Understanding of how systems fit together, with experience in digesting new or existing systems to create test strategies for scalable success of the system and its parts. 
  • You have a strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize tasks and work autonomously, and an adaptive personality with the ability to function within a fast-paced environment.

 

Nice to haves:

  • You have worked in Test-driven development.
  • You have experience in pipeline creation and development for testing in a CI environment, using tools such as Buildkite or Jenkins.
  • You have a strong, functioning knowledge of Agile Scrum.
  • You have hands-on experience with performance testing methodologies.

"The salary range (or base pay for hourly positions) for this position is $172,500-207,000 however, base pay offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
