The North America Transportation and Delivery organization is responsible for developing the strategy and execution of our Logistics network, which encompasses a large carrier portfolio that enables us to deliver a best-in-class customer experience in the furniture and home space.

We are looking for a leader to join our Carrier Procurement and Performance team, responsible for managing commercial relationships and leading vendor negotiations with our Last Mile and Parcel carrier portfolio. In this role you will be responsible for delivering successful negotiations at significant scale, thought leadership across Procurement and Operations and leading strategy across the overall procurement function to support the goals of the business. Candidates should also have a collaborative leadership style and a demonstrated ability to drive results in partnership with cross-functional teams.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Cultivate and strengthen key strategic relationships with our Last Mile and Parcel carriers
  • Create and drive procurement strategy and vision to create an industry leading transportation network
  • Develop, champion and manage joint initiatives with our carrier partners to create stronger collaboration and unlock new areas of value
  • Negotiate with logistics to obtain valuable terms and conditions
  • Liaise with key partner stakeholders to solve issues, communicate strategies, and create synergies to further drive performance
  • Drive the development of market-leading forward logistics strategies with the goals of accelerating delivery speed and lowering transportation costs
  • Partner with key cross-functional leaders across Operations, Category Management, Sales & Service, Merchandising, and Technology/Engineering to create alignment in strategic approach and successfully realize your vision
  • Leverage data and analytics to develop new strategies to drive performance and cost effectively deliver Wayfair product to customers

 

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a Supply Chain/Operations discipline
  • 5-7 years relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, procurement, consulting, strategy or finance with a track record of success
  • Track record of successful negotiation and relationship management skills
  • Strong leadership ability. A hands-on team player that can inspire/mentor staff members.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive complex projects to completion using effective project management, communication and influence. Relentless about following up until the job is done.
  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills. Able to analyze large sets of data, generate insights and then proactively communicate those insights to senior leaders. Able to grasp complex issues and look beyond the obvious.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills. Proven ability to work successfully within and across teams. Able to build relationships at all levels in the organization.
  • Self-motivated and proactive. Makes sound business decisions even when faced with ambiguity and competing priorities.
  • Extensive experience working with Excel/Google Sheets is highly preferred, SQL knowledge is a plus but not required.
