About The Role

The Post Order Customer Engineering teams are responsible for building high quality customer service experience for our customers across all aspects of the post order lifecycle for both customer self service and agent assistance tools. 

Within Post Order Customer Engineering the Where Is My Stuff - Pre Delivery Journey team is focussed on providing reliable and accurate visibility into customer order status and delivery information including sending appropriate customer communications at various stages of the order delivery process.  In the Senior Software Engineer role, you will build the tools that help keep our customers informed about their orders delivery status and arrival dates by providing visibility into tracking for millions of orders as they flow through our global network of suppliers, carriers and warehouses working alongside several critical engineering teams at Wayfair including Order Systems, Order Integrations, Wayfair Global Carrier Platform and WDN (our warehouses).  We have one of the most complicated/sophisticated supply chains and we need top engineers to build on top of those systems. 

What You’ll Do:

  • As a Senior Software Engineer you will actively work alongside other engineers to design and deliver high quality contributions to the codebase
  • Help set and realize technical vision for the team by driving high impact architectural decisions including inception, design, and delivery
  • Identify risks and gaps in technical approaches to meet team and project goals.
  • Work with senior leadership to architect solutions and ensure that we deliver the right functionality, in a timely manner.
  • Work across the full stack of application development including distributed pipelines, GraphQL and react.
  • Application development in Java, PHP, JavaScript - React and GraphQL
  • Work within an Agile culture to foster continuous improvement at the team and departmental level

What You’ll Need:

  • Experience in ability to breakdown product requirements from complex problem statements into actionable tasks.
  • Successful background in designing production systems at scale including fault tolerance, reliability, performance, and security
  • Full Stack experience including working with distributed systems and pipelines as well as react based component development for front-end applications.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with engineers, product managers, data scientists, analysts and business stakeholders.
  • Proven success in mentoring junior engineers to improve standards and reduce defects in dynamic environments.
