Wayfair is looking for an experienced product manager to own data protection & privacy for our core customer data & our websites. Wayfair is investing heavily in customer privacy and sees it as critical to our growth goals. The good news for you is you’d join this high-visibility journey early, with the opportunity to shape privacy for a $14B global F500 company. You’d be accountable for the fun part of Product - Discovery - in partnership with your team of engineers & analysts & cross-functional stakeholders. Over time, you’d build the technical foundation of a privacy program that supports Wayfair’s scale and growth & provides a world-class customer privacy experience. And you’d have fun doing it - Wayfairians and in particular the people you’d work with are collaborative, dedicated, and will challenge you to grow and learn every day.

 

What You’d Do:

  • Lead product discovery and roadmap for customer privacy, leveraging your knowledge of the discovery framework & your discovery toolkit, in partnership with the Marketing Privacy team - together you’ll address the full technical problem space
  • Help develop & evangelize Wayfair’s stance on privacy - we’re early in this journey, so you’ll help shape our privacy principles & educate the organization on how privacy interacts with and supports our path toward becoming the destination for all things home
  • Define the approach to privacy & access control for our core customer databases - you’ll have a rare opportunity to define & implement this at massive scale
  • Partner with Legal, the Data Protection Office, Product, Security, and other teams to identify and educate on privacy needs and drive towards pragmatic solutions
  • Communicate regularly with leadership, translating both technical and domain specific adtech language into communications for broad audiences
  • Lead complex privacy initiatives that span multiple product areas, ensuring coordination & full understanding to achieve the right outcome for Wayfair

 

What You Need:

  • 5+ years experience in software product management with a focus on data-driven product discovery and experience leading multi-team initiatives
  • Curiosity about customer privacy and demonstrated ability to rapidly become an SME (bonus points for existing understanding / experience / advocacy for privacy)
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude & interest in learning the technologies powering privacy & data storage at scale - replication, granular authorization / access control; cookies, local storage, browser features, browser & mobile app nuances
  • Ability to structure problems, develop clear hypotheses, and rigorously iterate toward solutions that solve the highest-impact problems, bringing others along
  • Proven ability to work with and influence a wide range of cross-functional teams and leaders, including influencing to bring structure & rigor to decisions & prioritization
  • Others have noted your good writing skills and knack for tailoring communication to the audience - simplifying or going into detail as necessary, with clarity & precision
